This really HAS to be Nigel’s final hurrah to his beloved sea for 2023…….
….. although, you never know with the little fella ……
….. where there’s a will or a very kind invitation, there’s a way!
Yesterday started with a cheeky stroll round the many charity shops of Poole ……..
…….. followed by a shameless half pint of lemonade and coke at their favourite Poole hostelry of choice on the almost deserted quay, where perhaps a restorative pot of tea might have been a little more warming…….. but, they were on holiday!
Then onwards to the pleasures (and fishy whiffs) of Mudeford Quay …..
…… reminiscing Sun £10 holidays of the past with Andy, when we were, for some reason, put in the wonderful “penthouse” suite in the main building at Sandhills, on the beachfront, when we were expecting a caravan. Let’s just say …….. we wallowed!
Nigel says that Mudeford is just as romantic as ever, however, the site now seems to have gone very upmarket and there’d probably be no way we’d ever get an aforementioned Sun holiday again, in fact, we’d most likely have to take out a full blown mortgage to cross said hallowed portals for the same weekend these days!
And finally, on to Durley Chine in Bournemouth, where although there was, by now, a decidedly November chill in the air, it didn’t stop the dynamic duo setting out the camping chairs to savour a steaming flask of coffee ……..
……. while taking in the last rays of the autumnal sun over the sea, happy days!

ReplyDeleteA flask of hot coffee was a good idea. Are you going to have an ice cream? I would definitely have a mahoosive portion of cod and chips, at least.
