You may remember a little while ago when one of our greatest fans, Jan the Fan, sent us a parcel of confectionary type comestibles …
…. including a gummi jelly type rat ….
…. to which Nigel has become quite attached!
However, we decided that if we kept “our rat” any longer it would be rendered stale, past its “best by date” and thus totally inedible and that could/would be naturally considered by the aforementioned Jan the Fan to be most impolite of us.
And although only an item of confectionary, the usually unsquemish Nigel, due to his attachment to the rat, could barely look as Darrell prepared to dissect the rat with a well honed carving knife.
But once it was cut up and no longer recognisable as a rat Nigel’s reticence was soon overwhelmed by curiosity …
….. and the strong smell of liquorice … and then …. it was forks akimbo
“This is just like a civilised Bush Tucker Trial, without the squirming, unpleasantness, gagging and nose holding” mused Darrell
Which Nigel agreed with between mouthfuls of tail. And our verdict …. nom, nom, nom thrice nom …. and a mahoooosive “Thank You” to Jan the Fan for allowing us to say we had eaten a vegetarian option to rat!

Oh my - I was with Nigel for a moment there! Darrell's face looked quite cunning with knife in hand.

The rats tail is huge compared to Nigel. Darrell did very well manipulating that huge knife.
ReplyDeleteThe rat would be a great Halloween table decoration..But it isn't exactly appetizing when it is intact, but quite a yummy looking gummi in bits and pieces! Good choice, a stale rat wouldn't be useful at all.....Bon appetite!....Dianne
