Too Much Temptation To Peruse Whilst Waiting At The Bus Stop……

I am not sure that sure about having my battered fish dish up at a carvery.
Call me old fashioned, but, for me a carvery is the traditional and acceptable place with which to be served a most generous and ample slice of lamb, beef, pork or turkey ….. and I very much prefer my fish to be served as a whole rather than a slice.
So, I think I will give said fish on this occasion a wide berth.  However, a three roast carvery, is a very completely different kettle of fish .. ….. it’s what we, at Castle Greysquirrel, would call a full house of most ample sufficiency ….. especially with unlimited veg ………
……. leaving just a soupçon of room for pudding, which in an ideal world would come with unlimited custard, with skin (custard skin of course, not of the OMG the chef has just cut his hand type skin!) ….. what am I like?  And I’ve only just had breakfast!

  1. Agreed.
You carve meat at a carvery.
One does not order battered fish there.
I like my custard very thick. Spoons should stand up in custard.

  2. Oh my what a giggle you give me! No - fish from a carvery doesn't sit well with me either - not to mention the chef's skin - urgh, makes me shudder!!! JantheFan x

  3. What a strange coincidence-I only went to the local Toby Carvery last night for tea! I wouldn't dream of ordering fish when dining at the carvery. I had all 4 meats on offer along with the largest Yorkshire pudding available-yum!

  5. Remaining true to your own menu of choice always works best .....some things just don't mix.....when those in charge cross that line, "no thank you" is just plain necessary!..... Dianne

Sorry we are going to have to add word verification our comments section as it seems we are again being bombarded with spam!!! So if your comment doesn't come up straight away it means that our lady "that does" is going through them with a fine toothcomb, so that the spammers don't get through .....This is such a robust pain in the bottom and as such we have boycotted all SPAM comestibles in protest ..... sandwiches, fritters, fricasse etc.!!!!!!
