Craft Beer Curious.

Not that we “poke around” when we are on child-minding duty at Tom The Scientist and The Lovely Laura’s, but sometimes we can’t help noticing ……..

…….. and in this instance Nigel couldn’t help but notice that Tom the Scientist’s had taken out a monthly subscription of Beer52, that’s Craft Beer to you and I.

I think it was the romantic and unusual names that first captured Nigel’s imagination……… swiftly followed by the idea of substituting, and I quote a “juicy breakfast beer”  for  his more usual coffee, milk with two sugars and three slices of marmite toast in bed on a Sunday morning!

And then, he got very absorbed in the accompanying magazine “Ferment”, a title we all decided that should be read aloud in a robust and manly sort of voice, (preferably bearded), rather than in a soft gentler tone!

Now, as you know we all rather favour the cocktail as our beverage of choice when on holiday or watching The Great British Bake Off or The X Factor, but I think Nigel is now on a mission to persuade Darrel and I that we should broaden our horizons, suggesting that we might well be missing the untold pleasure in an Ice Cream Pale Ale or said Breakfast Beer ………

…….. And perhaps he is right!  So I have put him in charge of finding a little “full bodied and lusty” something for our first serious foray into the world of craft type beers, goodness only knows what he will come up with!  I will keep you all informed as to his progress!!!!!

  2. Ask Tom Archer, Susan Carter or Clarrie Grundy all about fermentation - they have quite a tale to tell, as I'm sure you will know! JantheFan x

  3. Brewing your own beer is popular here in the US.....all sorts of kits and equipment for home brewing....hope Nigel doesn't learn too much from Ferment!.....Love, Dianne

Sorry we are going to have to add word verification our comments section as it seems we are again being bombarded with spam!!! So if your comment doesn't come up straight away it means that our lady "that does" is going through them with a fine toothcomb, so that the spammers don't get through .....This is such a robust pain in the bottom and as such we have boycotted all SPAM comestibles in protest ..... sandwiches, fritters, fricasse etc.!!!!!!
