A Very Careful Water Watch At The Towers ......

Thank you for all your robust concern due to our close proximity to the river especially after all the rain the country has been experiencing over the past week or so, to quote Blondie "The tide is high"

As soon as we pulled up the blinds this morning  Nigel remarked that the river looked a little closer than it did last night. It was also very murky and was flowing at a rate of knots ..........

........ so after checking for any flood alerts for our postcode, followed by a hearty breakfast he and Darrell decided they had better go down and check just how far it had actually risen.

The water was covering the first step of the bottom flight, with said steps acting as a sort of barrier because on either side of them the water had reached the bottom of the bank and passed the fence.

Needless to say, all fishing platforms have disappeared and the footpath looked a tad treacherous, so I don't suppose we will getting our usual quota of joggers or ramblers for the next a day or two.

We will be naturally monitoring the situation very, very carefully. 

We do have a couple of sand bags but they have been kept outside, to the side of The Towers probably since it was built and have now unfortunately sprouted various flora and fauna, so are no longer usable.

Darrell, to be on the safe side, is currently researching how we can get some more........

....... however, if the river does get that high goodness knows what would be happening to the rest of Evesham, it just doesn't bear thinking about!
