Charity Shop Shame?

Oh dear ..... as Nigel was going past the charity shop on the corner, on his way home from the nursery/school run he had little look, as often is his want, to see what they had left outside for people to have a mooch through, stuff that had been on the shelves for a while and hadn't sold, but was too good to just put in the bin.  I have to say, we have had quite a few useful or interesting finds in the past.
However, on this occasion there were only two things beside said bin, a huge lamp shade (in excellent condition according to Nigel)........ and a vase .........
...... a vase Nigel instantly recognised as being one that we had in fact donated ......... and no one else had wanted either.  Nigel said he then found himself  in a bit of a quandary, should he claim the vase back as his own, salvaging some of the shame of having donated something that had been rejected by all the customers who had visited in the shop, or leave it there just in case someone passing might take a fancy to it instead, someone who hadn't been in the shop and had it beckoning to them to make it a considered purchase from its place on the shelves perhaps?
In the end, after much soul searching Nigel decided to leave it, but as soon as he got home started to regret it, perhaps it had been a spooky Derek Accorah type omen telling him that it was meant to stay with us after all, and as such he promised himself that if it was still there when he went past in the morning he would take it back.  What is he like?

Postscript to the story  ....... when Nigel went by as planned the vase had gone ......... obviously someone did quite  fancy it and it has now gone on to newer climes to be appreciated and used for the purpose it was meant, to be filled with beautiful, fragrant flowers on, hopefully, a more regular basis than it had at The Towers! Bless.
