Nigel has just upped his hours to one whole day and then an extra half day listening to his beloved readers in school, which, it appears, unlocks a most wonderous pleasure for the little fella ………
….. because, when he’s in school for a said whole day, he becomes entitled to a free school dinner …….. let’s just say, on this news he was almost beside himself.
……. and, even more fortuitous, his chosen full day of a Thursday also just happens to fall on Roast Day, his most favourite meal!
Well, who wouldn’t be a happy bunny?
Needless to say, Nigel goes for “the full works”, chicken, roasties, mash, stuffing, peas, carrots and lashings of gravy ……… the lovely Cook Lady, I believe, has already remarked on his extremely healthy appetite and habit of showing her his clean plate when he’s done!
As for pudding, Nigel tells us he tends to go for the watermelon as a perfect palate cleanser.
He said while standing at the pass for the first time he was a little overwhelmed by memories of his time working in the kitchen at the girls school that came flooding back, noticing that at this school there were sadly no sauce sachets that needed rotating, mores the pity, but thinking that his past experience and expertise might perhaps be a little segue into conversation with the cook when she wasn’t quite so busy. Happy, happy days!

Oh how lovely! Listening to readers AND a free school dinner, perfect! I loved my reading group when I worked in a school, it’s so special knowing you’ve helped them grow in confidence and gain a skill for life x
Do they need an extra helper? - I'm available oh High Days and Holy Days and all those in between if I get a roast dinner on the side. Happy Dayz. JantheFan x
