OMG, OMG, OMG …… it’s been almost impossible to breath for the whole of the weekend as we have been entertaining guests …….. none other than ……you’ll never guess …….OMG …… The PE Lady and her best friend The Finance Lady from our halcyon days at The Girls High School, let’s just say it was EMOTIONAL, in very large capital letters, so much so that our shaking during key moments of the state visit made getting a non blurry picture of events nigh on impossible, so you’ll have to picture many of the scenes in your heads.
We all met up in Worcester, The PE Lady and The Finance Lady having hung on our tales of the street in Worcester that we call Charity Shop Road, where it’s almost just all said shops …… and the PE and Finance Lady are charity shop shoppers par excellence! Believe me these ladies can shop till they drop …….
…… and we have to admit that our feet took a right pounding and may need some recuperation, but we wouldn’t have wished to do anything else, it was all too wonderful.
We ALL made considered purchases, Darrell found a beautiful devore scarf to flounce when he sees Hugh next, I found a bead maker for my crafting, Nigel found a game to play with Little Miss Iris and Young Master Bertie and as for the PE Lady and The Finance Lady, let’s just say they did not go home wanting!!!
When we got back to The Towers Darrell prepared a sumptuous feast of cold meats and salads with a triple chocolate roulade for pudding, but it was hard for Darrell, Nigel and I to swallow let alone eat as we were so in thrall of our guests, all we wanted to do was stare in disbelief that The PE Lady was actually in our home.
However, after one of Darrell’s extremely potent Evesham Iced Tea Cocktails we managed to relax a little and soon The Towers echoed with robust laughter and a few tears as stories were told and memories came flooding back.
In the morning, it was just too embarrassing for Darrell as the ladies insisted on washing and drying up, he was beside himself, “…. ladies such as these” he sighed “….. should always be total strangers to the washing up sponge and the tea towel”, but they wouldn’t hear of anything else, so he had to remain a hostage to his emotions.
However, the saving grace was that they allowed him to put away our beloved Royal Doulton with its Art Deco design as they didn’t know where it all went in our cabinets and knew that Darrell had a place for everything.
Then, all too soon, it was time to bid a fond farewell, as if we had gone through the wringer enough, there was more emotion.
Seeing the PE Lady’s car turn out of the car park was almost too much to bear, however there was the promise to return, hopefully before Christmas when we promised to show both ladies the pleasures of the many charity shops of Tewksbury…….. as well as the abbey!
All that was left to do then was tidy up a little ……. with Darrell pondering as to whether we should have a little plaque made up for the bedroom to commemorate that “The PE Lady Slept Here” ………
……. now even I think that may be taking things a little too far! What is he like?

What a wonderful weekend, filled with good friends, good food, good cheer and good shopping.
What a wonderful weekend for you all. Nigel must have been on his best behaviour as you’ve not mentioned any mishaps.
