Having stayed in Elounda before, back in 2018, everything of a Greek Odyssey type nature seems to have fallen into place very quickly, as we’ve almost started where we left off as far as our daily routine is concerned.
Every evening following our obligatory promenade, small aperitif, dinner and then a spot of people watching from a cocktail bar, we end the night by popping into one or other of the supermarkets so that Darrell can pick up a few things for our lunch the next day.
Let’s just say we are not strangers to the odd Cretan Cookie ……
……. or slice or two of Samali (semolina cake) as recommended to us by the lovely, lovely, smiley lady on the check-out.
Then, when he’s in the kitchen, Darrell is forever sighing how everything in a foreign supermarket is just sooooooo very romantic, from the bread rolls …….
….. baby cucumbers, giant tomatoes ……….
…… even the German butter, which he said, felt so much more exotic to spread!
He is really doing us proud and pulling out all the stops with treats for elevenses and lunch, not to mention an afternoon snack……..
……. which means we are free to embrace every second on beach from eight thirty to around six thirty.
Where would we be without Darrell and his domestic ways?
Bless his little Primark flip flops ……….

Excellent job with the food, Darrell.
Ten hours on the beach! I hope you have got a big vat of factor 100 suntan lotion and, in the words of 'Enery Cooper, you splash, sorry, you rub it all over.
I'm with Darrell - it's always great to look round a supermarket when abroad...such exciting things and it all looks so different - obviously!!! JantheFan X
