Smooth Operator

 Picture 010
I thought operating a switchboard looked easy, so I volunteered to man it the other day.
Picture 011
But it was all very confusing, all those flashing lights and irate people asking what the hell was going on and why they were cut off as soon as they got through…….
Picture 014
In the end I ignored the ringing completely until the lady whose job it really is came back from her dinner break.  I pretended to look busy by counting the drawing pins on her desk and said that it had been very quiet!

Aren't Binoculars Brilliant?

Binoculars
Aren’t binoculars brilliant?  They make things that are far away look really close when you look through them.
Picture 005
I’ve been looking for George and the Banga Bus with them, it’s brilliant, I can see them coming miles down the road.  I can also see the postman and the paperboy coming ages before they get to the house.
I think I might try looking at birds next……

Mr Collis’s New Monkey

Time to say goodbye
Mr Collis’s monkey and I have become firm friends …
Friends for Life
But today we said “Adieu, but not goodbye”
You'll be OK mate
We waited together for Mr Collis and his bus to arrive to take The Young Ladies to their football practice.
Monkeys through a window
Mr Collis was thrilled, as this was all a BIG surprise for him, and promised to send me lots of pictures of their adventures.
Picture 028
Mr Collis said he would give his monkey a name in a day or two …..
Mrs C's monkey takes to the wheel
after they had travelled the road together for a little while.
I'm a bit jealous
I was a little bit jealous, because I LOVE buses …..
On Mrs C's Bus
We said our final goodbyes.
Waving bye Bye
And I waved them off …..
Feeling sad
then went to compose myself for a little while.

My Favourite Glass

 My Favourite Glass
This is my favourite drinking glass.
Picture 186 Picture 189
It’s got little fish in the bottom (not real ones, that would be cruel), that swim about while you drink.  How brilliant is that?

Turning My Seaside Bounty into Useful and Attractive Things.

Do you remember me saying I liked the beach with the old bricks on ….
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Well, I bought four of the bricks back home with me because I had an idea ….
Picture 072
I made candles holders with them !
Picture 070
I am sure that Her Majesty the Queen would feel immensely proud to have such candle sticks gracing her banquetting table whilst entertaining various Heads of State or indeed her own dear family on private occassions at Windsor.  If I go back to Southport I will collect a few more - that will sort out several birthday and Christmas presents!

When Monkey Met Molly

Molly has lovely eyes
Molly is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
I love you Molly
I saw her across The Ladies Office.
Molly is beautiful
She is tiny and cute, with sparkly eyes like diamonds and the sweetest bare feet, but I worry that they will get cold ........ I will buy her some socks.

Seaside Rock

Southport Treat bags
I have made some little bags of Southport rock for the ladies in the office.  I only put five sweeties in each bag because I know that they are all watching their weight.
Picture 107
I carefully bought back a bit of seaweed from my holiday and have put it on my notice board.  Some people can predict the weather with seaweed, but I am not sure how they do it.

Time to Go Home

I filled in the questionnaire before we left because everyone else was busy packing!
Picture 063
I said the arcade was good, but it was too hard to win a dragon.
Picture 062
Mum said “Did you put that there was no kettle on arrival (we had to call hospitality for one), that there was no grill pan under the grill (so no toast – but we had eggy bread instead, yum, yum) and that neither of the two plugs provided fitted the bath or kitchen sink?”
Picture 065
I said “No” but added that I did mention that it didn’t seem quite right when I saw a granny going to the site shop in her leopard print pyjamas and ugg boots!
Picture 002
As we drove back home I kept my bag of seashells and stones close to my heart and thought some wistful thoughts.

Last Night at Southport

Last night Auntie Jan took me to the Arcade to try and win a big, green, funny faced dragon for Lucy on one of those crane machines, but I was rubbish at it and didn’t get her one.
rubbish
Then we played air hockey, Auntie Jan won because her arms are longer than mine.
aaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
And then I had one last fairground ride.  I’ve had a BRILLIANT time but now it’s time to go home.
I have a bag of rock to take home and share with everyone, they can suck a piece while I tell them of all about my adventures.

My Last Day at Southport.

Choosing a postcard
I remembered to send a postcard to the “Ladies in the Office”.  They have a special wall where they put all the postcards they are sent during the year.
Picture 006
After I had written my postcard we went for a long walk in the dunes.
Picture 008
I was full of fresh air and Granny said I had glowing cheeks.
Picture 004 Picture 003
Then we went to say goodbye to the Iron Men
Picture 026
And I had a long think while sitting on a log.
