Constantly Surprised - Vinnie – Would Be 2012 Olympic Games Maker …….

We are constantly surprised by our friends and their hidden talents.  We knew that Vinnie the Volunteer, who lives with Auntie Jan, volunteered for EVERYTHING of a sporty nature in his (and Auntie Jan’s) endeavour to fulfil their dream of becoming Official Olympic Volunteers in 2012 or to use the proper Olympic terminology - “Games Makers” ….. but we didn’t know that he was a dab hand on a “singer”!

And is especially proud of his smocking ….
Vinnie
….. Anyway, it turns out that he has written to the Lord Coe and has volunteered to make the bunting to go round the 2012 Olympic Stadium ….. what a wonderful gesture and no mean task!
Olympic Stadium
We have volunteered to help Vinnie to cut out all the triangles … should his offer be accepted. Come on Lord Coe, please say yes!

Darrell …. Party Animal or Easily Lead Astray Nomer?

cosmo
Darrell is becoming a bit of a party animal.  Last night he he was out enjoying  the delights of Pan Asian Cuisine with Stephanie, “An extremely attractive redhead” he said, continuing  “We are just good friends. She is sworn to another and my heart belongs faithfully to Stacey Solomon, but, there is nothing to say that we can’t share in the pleasures of jelly …….

……. in cube form or in multicoloured slices ……

Hmmmmmmm, I despaired when I saw his plate plates, not one 5 a day on any of them.  I think I need to take him in hand a little.

I may also need to have a word with Stephanie, what sort of pudding is this for a young woman?  (and yes, those are Cadbury mini eggs!)

A Sun £9.50 Holiday to Camber Sands?

!CBQ6jCgB2k~$(KGrHqN,!lEEz 6Oy)BIBNG5ys3!Yg~~_12
This is what I call Darrell’s pitiful pleading face…..
Stacey Solomon 2
We are collecting tokens for another £9.50 Sun Holiday and all he keeps saying is “Can we go to Camber Sands, can we, can we, can we pleeeeeeeease, can we?”
Camber Sands
And I know the reason why  …… since reading that this is where Stacey Solomon went to celebrate the New Year,  he is determined to go ….. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hasn’t already phoned them to find out which chalet she stayed in!

We’re Calendar Boys!!!

We checked Darrell’s Facebook page yesterday and look what we found on his wall ….. us!!!
Picture 140
There was also a message from one of our followers Karen which said:-
Hi Darrell, I hope you and Monkey don't mind (although my Monkey Alfie is just a little bit jealous!!) but I loved the picture of you in your Santa suits so much, I made you the stars of my December scrapbook pages. I am just finishing a challenge to scrapbook 2010. One of the pages each month has to be an envelope with receipts and stuff, so I made you a big Monkey Santa sack to put the tickets on for my sons graduation from the RAF (he will be the star of the other page!).
I hope you don't mind xx
Mind?  We are thrilled!  We feel really, really famous!]
Facebook Calendar
Our first calendar spread!  Thank you so much Karen xxxx

Perhaps next year we’ll be asked to do one with our shirts off and our six packs out ….. !!

Nipping Over to See Cyril

 Picture 080
It’s been ages since I have seen my mate Cyril, so I nipped over to Stafford yesterday to catch up with him. I warned him I was coming, just in case my visit clashed with The Jeremy Kyle Show, which he NEVER misses. He said it was OK, and not to worry, as he now has Jezza on permanent Series Link.
Jacket
He was very impressed with my new biker jacket, in fact he insisted on checking the label as he couldn’t believe it wasn’t an expensive Italian design and that it was actually from Florence and Fred at Tesco!
Picture 089
Cyril proudly showed me his house rabbit, Honey, she is so lovely……  all soft and fluffy, (not unlike Darrell really!)

And I think she took a shine to me.
Monkey Life
I had a lovely time, especially when we watched Monkey Life together,  sharing a huge bowl of pretzels. It’s brilliant to have good friends.

Nigel's Got Pants!

It seems everyone has taken Nigel to their hearts … and now he gets as much post as we do, if not more!
Jumpers for Monkeys
Our friend Marc has sent him a whole wardrobe of t-shirts, jumpers and a pair of jeans that are just perfect, so no more bare bottom!
Jumpers for Monkeys 1
Look at his little face!  He is completely overwhelmed.
Picture 126
His makeshift "hankie" pants are now a thing of the past ….
Picture 127
If he could speak properly, we are sure he would say that he felt blessed in a Hello magazine type way!

Ponderings

Lingga
You know when I am up the Czech mountains?  Will there be any risk of me suffering from attitude altitude sickness or the bends?  And if there are any risks, what precautions should I take? Earplugs, barley sugar, oxygen mask?  Sun £9.50 holidays are much less complicated.

After The Excesses

After the excesses of Darrell’s visit to Julia’s, he decided he needed to treat his body like a temple …. while still dreaming and talking about  mini beef wellingtons, proper cheese straws, honey and mustard infused chipolatas, hot chocolate brownies, brandy bombs and posh coffees ….
Picture 131
I told him that I thought that the teabags should have been used before putting them on his eyes ….
Picture 132
And the stones on his back should have been warmed, most probably in volcanic springs ….
Picture 134
But, there’s no telling him when he’s like this!

Darrell On The Razzell!

Darrell came in VERY late last night, clutching a plastic box containing two gigantic slices of, in his own words:-
“Baked Limoncello cheesecake forced upon me by baking angels from food heaven.  I told them I couldn’t possibly ….. and they said I could and should ….. and if I didn’t  it would only go stale ….  so I did….”  I think he was a little delirious!
Cheesecake
He had been over to his friend Julia’s and again in his own words “….. Had feasted greatly and had enjoyed hospitality beyond compare!”
Lemonchella Cheesecake
He then, at long past midnight, proceeded to polish off his cheesecake, going as far as to lick the container clean, (a practice I don’t encourage, I hasten to add), nomming ten to the dozen.
Darrell
“I LOVE Julia,” he sighed “BUT not in a Stacey Solomon type way, I love her in a nom, nom, nom type way!” After which he went to bed….. still nomming!

Sunglasses

Picture 109
Following on from yesterday AND I know my ski trip isn’t for another couple of months yet, but you can’t blame me for being VERY excited!
Picture 108
When Vinnie (the Volunteer) came over, I asked him for his his opinion on some of my sunglasses, as I thought he would give me an honest answer ….
trying on sunglasses 2
He hmmmmmed a lot …..
Trying on sunglasses
….. and then suggested that we could leave making  final decision a little longer. especially as I haven’t got my ski jacket yet …. I think that’s what you call diplomacy!!
On Trend sunglasses
But for the record, I am favouring the heart shaped ones, as modelled here by Darrell at the moment!

Not a Great Face For A Hat …..

jester hat
I’ve been thinking that I need to sort out a ski hat,  something that perhaps reflects my personality …..
Duck hat
….. but I’m not quite sure that the ones Darrell has offered as possible choices do that or are that suitable ….Picture 069

No wonder we don’t go clothes shopping together very often, I dread to think what he’d have me dressed in

A Whole Lot of Making Going On …..

There is always lot of making going on in our house ……. that’s probably why it’s gradually wearing off on us!
Wolves Plaque
As you know, we are HUGE Wolves fans, so when Tom the Scientist bought his dad a “Wolves Fans Live Here” mould for Christmas, to make stepping stones for the garden, we were very, very excited.
Wolves Fan Plaque
How BRILLIANT are they? …… But far too hard for us to have a go at …..  the thought of Darrell and a big bucket of wet cement doesn’t bode too well!
Wolves Plaque Mould
But, we are busy planning how the stepping stones will look in our garden once Tom’s Dad (Mr. Fiddle Fart) has made enough for a path ……..
Wolves
We think “Sir” Mick would be very impressed with what we have in mind!

Darrell’s Modelling Set

Picture 002
One of Darrell’s favourite Christmas presents was his play dough modelling set.  It smells lovely, just like marzipan,  but he knows he mustn’t eat any! Definitely no nom, nom noming!
Play Dough
At first he made a lots of snakes, worms and bridges, but after a bit of practice he is getting more adventurous  ……..
Modelling clay kit
…… and accomplished …..
Stacey Solomon made out of Play Dough
like this model of Stacey Solomon.
A heart for Stacey Solomon
He even made a little heart to go with it!
Darrell in Play Dough
He is also trying to be very careful and keep all the colours separate,  as he doesn’t want it to get all mixed up and become a big pile of yucky coloured brown dough.  I expect we will be seeing quite a few of Darrell’s models over the next few weeks!
