Repurposing Our Petty Thieving ……..

With all our little seaside breaks this summer we hold our hands up and admit that we have also bought home a few souvenirs ……….

Amusement Arcade Money Pots

…… to wit, pilfered lucky money pots from various amusements arcades. I am not sure what motivated us, we just did.  It was wrong we know, call it hedonistic beach bravado, we just couldn’t help ourselves ……. they were just so full of happy memories after a pretty awful 18 months or so of Covid lockdown. I suppose they symbolised freedom, well that’s what we’re going to tell the judge if it ever comes to it!

Replanting Cactus

But, they are not going to waste, Darrell’s beloved carboot cactus, (no pictures sorry), bought a couple of summers ago, at a carboot sale over Worcester way with Hugh, in times when “the living was easy” and less complicated, has had rather a lot of babies and Darrell needed to do an urgent repot.

Charity Shop Finds - Animal Plant pots

He thought he had enough planters, but those babies just kept coming, needing a new home  ………

Lucky Cup Cactus POt

……. so ever resourceful, Darrell remembered our pretty blatantly pilfered cups ……

…… it was a no brainer ……… creating a memory that just keeps giving …….

…… and the prickles serving poor Darrell’s fingers as a  bitter sweet reminder of our holiday misdemeanours!  What are we like?

Naughty boys. Your secret is safe with me, and it gives you lovely memories, as well as a place for your cacti/cactuses.

I did a similar thing at the Los Flamingos bar and hotel in Acapulco. The hotel is famous for being owned by the actors Johnny Weissmüller, John Wayne, Fred McMurray and comedian Red Skelton. Bette Davis, Orson Wells, Rita Hayworth, Cary Grant, Maureen O’Sullivan, Errol Flynn and Tyrone Power all visited.

I went a but loco and took an ashtray. A very cheap one, however, and I don't even smoke. I ate a meal and had a number of drinks, however.

This bar is on the highest cliff in Acapulco and we got spectacular views of the sunset over the Pacific.
