Weymouth Opens Up It’s Pleasures To Us

It goes without saying that our first port of call, once we’d got ourselves organised, caravan-wise, after what feels like a very long winter, was to take in the sea air, in great big, welcome gulps.

It was a little on the nippy side, but we were all well wrapped up, vests still in situ, but everything was still very glorious.

Nigel swore blind that he could even see the White Cliffs of Dover from our view point on the esplanade ……..

…… until I had to explain, right colour, wrong coast ….. and what he could probably see was the more romantically named Bats Head, and if it had been much clearer Bats Hole and possibly a hint of the world famous Durdle Door.

So moving on, since Nigel had carefully packed his 50p, Weymouth, Evesham charity shop mug to use for the duration of our our petit dejeuner sojourn, he was keen to tick off some of the famous local landmarks featured upon it ……

……. the first and most obvious one to be spotted, on said esplanade, was the historic and iconic Jubilee Clock ………

…….. swiftly followed by, but not so easy to get near ……….

…… the Kings Statue, in honour of King George lll, so tick, tick ……. only 8/9 highlights to go ……. happy days and once more “Thank you Santa!” ……… as the late great Dame Judith Charmers was oft to be heard say “Wish you were here!”

The clock looks great.

I hope you have plenty of pennies for the penny falls.

Or, nowadays, is it two pence pieces or five pence bits, due to inflation? Although the name five pence falls doesn't quite work.

All looks good boyz - hands up, I remember, Wish You Were Here - and I wish I were there! Oh I do love to be beside the seaside, beside the sea. JantheFan x
