Lighting Our Christmas Lamp on Christmas Eve

It’s been a long time coming but it’s finally Christmas Eve …… and with everything in order,  there was only one thing left for us to do and that was to go down to the river to find a suitable branch for us to hang our Christmas lamp,  a long standing Christmas Eve tradition to remember all those special people who can’t be with us at Christmas ………IMG_6188
It was a really peaceful afternoon …….. so we didn’t rush …….

…… it was lovely to all be together …….. to just stand and gaze …..

…….. and then sit on the steps…….

……. in companionable silence, each of us lost in our own thoughts and memories of those special people…….

……. before Darrell finally decided it was time to find that suitable branch, one that we could hopefully see from our back window.  It would have been nice to have used a real candle but as this is a public area we didn’t really want to risk setting fire to any of the trees etc. so we used a battery operated candle instead to be on the safe side …….

And, as per usual, Darrell found the most perfect spot ………….
Silent night, holy night! All is calm, all is bright.

To absent friends.

I am thinking of Andy, as I write.

That looks just perfect! Just to wish you all a very Happy Christmas, sorry I haven’t commented much but it’s been a difficult year for various reasons.
