Nigel, love him, is now back home in the family nest. We’ve missed the little fella, as have Iris and Bertie on the school run, me thinks Uncle Nigel spoils them just a little bit more than even an very indulgent Uncle Darrell has this week!!!!
He returned bearing a most wonderous gift …… thinking that his usual proffering of a couple of sticks of seaside rock was a bit unseasonal in mid November ……..
……. he opted instead for a rustic, mature cheddar and marmite loaf, found completely by accident in a “proper” bakery during a stop off and mooch on the way home!
Darrell had it sliced, toasted and spread with real butter within five minutes of Nigel proudly presenting it to us
It did not disappoint ……. it was glorious comfort food, far more satisfying than a stick of rock, on a cold, cusp of winter sort of day.
I’ll be honest, we made very light work indeed of the delicacy, which disappeared rapidly amidst a great deal of nomming ……..
…….. so it was indeed fortuitous that Nigel had actually availed himself of two said loaves, knowing that with Marmite being our savoury spread/ingredient of choice, one just wouldn’t be enough! Oh my, it’s sooooooo brilliant to have him home again!
