A Present From Beautifully and Sunny Southport ……

This morning we found a totally unexpected parcel outside our front door, sat sitting on the door mat. It goes without saying that unexpected parcels are usually the best …….

…… and this one certainly didn’t disappoint.

It was from Michelle our beloved follower and commenter in beautiful and sunny Southport …… Mecca, last time we visited, of ice cream shops that have almost too many flavours to humanly chose from and the best fish and chips!

It was ……. emotional.

Inside were souvenirs from Southport, a place we hold very dear and usually visit once a year or so, but this year we haven’t made it, or, to be honest, as yet, any plans to do so, which is unbelievably remiss.

There were sticks of real life seaside rock with a salient warning to “mind” our teeth, all the more pertinent as we all have dental appointments in the next week or so, so we might keep it until afterwards, just to be on the safe side.  There was also a very useful Southport pen, as we can never find one when we need one and a postcard that had us reminiscing of long weekends in Southport past and then there was a book………….

……. only Agatha Raisin and The Wizard of Evesham, OMG, and there on the very first page, on the third line, it mentions the carpark at Mestow Green, a spot we know so well and have used countless times!  It was, again, emotional!

Needless to say, there was an unseemly scramble as to who would get to read it first …… I, happily, was the victor, after some very tense and feverish coin tossing.

What can we say Michelle but a big, wet thank you.  You made our day, with promises that hopefully next year we might be back!

So glad the parcel arrived, definitely save the rock until after the dentist appointment. Good to know the book is based on real locations-enjoy.

Oh my - what a lovely item to get through the post - you could always take turn to read a chapter to each other at bedtime whilst the two not reading could suck on a stick of rock. But you would have to clean your teeth before you fell to sleep of course! JantheFan x
