Oh my goodness me, The Towers has been thronging with a tangible and palpable excitement because ………
…….. we’ve got a woodpecker!
Well, perhaps not us personally, but now as a frequent guest at our bird feeding station.
I have to apologise for the very poor quality of photos but I swear he/she knows when we are observing ornithologically and though hungry he/she is proving to be extremely camera shy.
It’s been emotional …….. and yes, we’re desperate to give him a name, as is our usual want ………
…… but wanted to refrain from the very obvious obvious ……. so in the end, after a little robust debate (none heated) we unanimously agreed upon Woodrow Wilson, a bit of mouthful admittedly, but named after Andy’s best friend Woody …….. now both most probably sharing a cloud somewhere in Heaven together, re-enacting scenes from The Sweeney as they used to …….. before settling down got in the way! Happy days ……..

I assumed the woodpecker was named after Woodrow Wilson, the American President, who was also an academic.
The Sweeney? Now that brings back some memories, even though, first time round, I was too young, and not allowed to watch it.
Fags, Blags, Slags & Jags?
Were Andy and Woody apt to shout: "Shut it, you slag!!!"
(To each other, and not, heaven forbid, Andy to Mrs. G!)
Looks like a female - males have red at the back of the head.
