A Very Special Greek Oddity Tradition

As you know, we all very much love a Greek church and it’s always one of our traditions to visit the local one wherever we are in Greece.

Unfortunately, the one in Hanioti was locked whenever we tried to visit, but who can blame them, as there are always such wonderfully beautiful icons and lamps on display inside.

However, this one had a lovely, little chapel shrine outside ……..

…… so we were still able to light a candle for all our loved ones, who are no longer with us to share in our adventures ……..

…….. but who are always, always very close in our hearts, wherever we are.

A lovely gesture. Maybe the church is open on Sundays, or the tourist information people can help. There may be a diptych, triptych or even a polyptych inside.

As is often said, our loved ones are only a thought away. But always special to light a candle when we can and keep the flame of love alive. JantheFan x
