When we were in Crete, just before the dreaded Covid hit, we sampled loukoumades for the very first time, order with gay abandon from a menu, without a clue what these glorious, bite-sized, fluffy, sweet honey balls of deliciousness actually were …….
They were cooked for us by a lovely, little Greek Grandma in a wonderful old hotel, that has since been sadly turned into a “boutique establishment”, but the memory has long stayed in our hearts, but our quest to indulge in them again has met with little success.
http://mumsmonkey.blogspot.com/2018/07/nigel-finds-greek-treasure.html,
Last year we had them by a “turn of fate” as a complimentary pudding at the end of a meal, but that’s it ……..
So imagine the pandemonium that broke out when Nigel spotted them, sat sitting on the counter of Hanioti’s Ice Cream Parlour ………
Let’s say it was emotional, very emotional ……… very, very emotional!
They are a little different from “Granny’s” original delights, these are more akin to a heavily honey soaked doughnut rather than the delicate, light battered puffs of 2018, but we are not grumbling ……. they are glorious!!!!! Well done Nigel!

Great find, Nigel! Will these become a daily treat - along with the doughnuts on the beach?
Oh my - the delights just keep on arriving! Janthefan x
