At One, With Normal Greek Life …….

We did want to go on another trip last night,  but when we enquired as to the time it would take and the taxi fair to our chosen town of choice,  we decided that it was a little too far and expensive, as we near (??) the end of our Oddity.

Instead, Darrell suggested we go and have a wander round the really big, Asda type supermarket, on the cusp of the town, but within easy walking, because in all of our years going back and forth to Greece we’ve never done a real life, “proper” shop where locals do their weekend shop,  if you know what I mean.

Let’s just say it did not disappoint and if we were properly self catering ….

…….. Darrell would have been in his element ……

……. and going wild in the aisles, looking for proper Greek delicacies to cook up for us in the evening, to serve upon our balcony ………. however, instead (among other things) two Twix were bought for our traditional in flight snack for our return journey, because we’ve already eating the ones we’d bought with us for that exact same purpose!

Nigel said, although he wouldn’t have had a clue which aisle he was in  if he had to rely solely on the overhead signage, but it was all still very impossibly romantic, in a modern, Greek, everyday living type way.

As for the wonderous aisle of household cleaning products, Darrell was ,again, almost beside himself. I know he popped an exotic Bloo loo in our basket when he thought I wasn’t looking, but I didn’t say anything ……

…… I know what he is like …….. and what gives him the greatest pleasure!?!?!

Nigel also carefully selected a couple of packets of very plain biscuits to take back to school for his beloved little readers, nothing too fancy that they might be reluctant to try, just the Greek equivalent to a “morning coffee” I guess  …… but completely unpronounceable!

A bit of a weird trip …… but it goes without saying, one full of ooooo’s and ahhhhh’s and sooooooooo much laughter. Another experience and memory in the bag,  what are we like?

Well done, going local.

I hope Nigel didn't find anything with a name that sounds rude in English - the sort of thing that might be shown on "That's Life." After Cyril Fletcher's odd odes, of course.

Your shopping trip sounds fun, very considered purchases.
