After the disaster that was this months free copy of The Vale magazine, this morning we received a very wonderous, large envelope from our very lovely and much beloved follower Pharmacy Michelle from glorious Southport ……….
…… containing a really cute hedgehog themed Christmas card …….
…. a reference to our recent hedgehog graffiti problem, of which we dare not mention, lest it reignites a further episode of a nefarious copycat type nature ……
There was also a whole array of Michelle’s very own, real life, free local magazines ……..
……. of which we were very, very impressed, with not a hint of ear wax, undertaking or memorials, as was Evesham’s rather depressing offering!
Instead, Southport offered Santa Runs, starting at the very romantic Funland Arcade, a place we’ve squandered many a happy 2p on the pusher machines over the years ………
……. and a mince pie trifle!
The only sad note was when it came to the Pantomime page which proved to be an emotional read, because, unfortunately, the star, Dean Sullivan (Jimmy Corkhill) has unexpectedly moved to the great Brookside Close in the sky. We used to love Brookside and we’d only just watched Dean on Antiques Road Trip. Perhaps his fellow scouser, our much missed Derek Acorah, was there to welcome him ……. RIP
But, there was still more …… a beautiful calendar featuring the raised flower beds as planted by Ainsdale in Bloom, in Michelle’s said village of Ainsdale …….
……. a million miles away, let’s be honest, from Nigel’s “adopted” flower bed outside the Europa Supermarket in Evesham, no random and rogue tomato plants, marrows or Swiss chard in Ainsdale he noted!
It was a very considered collection of thought from Michelle, what can we say? We plan to peruse the magazines in more detail over the holidays (so watch this space) and who knows, as it’s been a while since we last visited Southport’s enticing pleasures, perhaps we’ll have a visit to add to our lovely calendar ……….. but thank you so much Michelle, you made our day …… and without a doubt, you’ll be with us every day of 2024!
XX THANK YOU XX

How wonderful, Michelle! A most thoughtful and timely gift. You have made three monkeys, and Mum, very happy. I'm sure a few tears were shed!
Glad the package arrived & enjoy everything.
Michele
Ooh Michelle is in waving distance from us in St Anne’s! Unfortunately our “Local List” magazine is no stranger to ear waxing ads BUT if you were to come up North next year….maybe the stars would align for a meeting??? I can dream!
Oh those magazines look great, I can always find a bit of time for a little article or three. JantheFan x
p.s. - oh and that mince pie trifle - now that looks delish! JtF x
