Nigel Embraces The Season …….

Nigel returned from his day volunteering in school yesterday, absolutely exhausted (to put it politely) but soooooo full of the Christmas spirit, if he’d had the energy, I think he might have burst! ……

He’d been charged with helping one of his favourite Year 2 classes to make their Christmas cards for home, it was such an honour and responsibility, and a bit of  a promotion from his usual listening to readers.

He was sooooooo nervous, bless him, before he left home but he’d been given a quick health and safety course in using scissors appropriately (both left and right) with Darrell in preparation …….

….. as well as practicing the not so simple art of ample and sufficient PVA glue spreadage using a school glue spatula, without it going everywhere!

The boy “dun gud” …….

….. he was gentle, encouraging, reassuring  ………..

…….. and above all, full of praise and admiration……

…… for all the little ones efforts.

It was …… needless to say, emotional, VERY emotional, as well as the aforementioned totally exhausting ……..

…… but he said that though his pace was a little slower than usual on the way home, he couldn’t help finding himself hum “Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas” as he trundled along …… bringing all his tales  back home for Darrell and I, to get a little teary eyed too.  We are so proud of him with his mahooooosive heart and dedication!  We could never, ever be without him ……..

Well dun, Nigel! (¡And mum!). ¡¡¡Both dun verrry, verrry gud!!!

I hope Nigel didn't get stuck to any of the cards, so that one of the children tried to take him home. Or stuck to anything else, for that matter, like an aforementioned small child.

Oh I bet the children loved young Nige in the class - and super cards made there too! JantheFan x
