Darrell Has Quick Nip Over To Le Chicken Coop

With Hugh, Darrell’s best friend, bon viveur and uncompromisingly discrete friend to the rich and famous, back at Le Chicken Coop for a just few days, Hugh said it would have been rude of Darrell not to pop over for just a day or two, before he was off again as part of the invited entourage on Elt’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.

They had an awful lot to talk about, despite their almost daily zooming, as it’s been quite a while since they’d been together in actual real life.

Being apart for what proved to be an absolutely stupendous Eurovision for the UK had been very much on their minds, but Hugh, ever the diligent host, had got it all recorded, with thanks to his “Man What Does”  and had sorted a showing, all be it second hand, so that they could relive each and every momentous moment together on Darrell’s first evening.

As you know, Hugh had been away at Her Majesty’s pleasure for Eurovision this year, but he did say that “they” had just about caught the tail end of it, once the other guests had gone, but it just wasn’t the same without Darrell ……..

…… but, ever the pragmatist, Hugh had been very careful not to allow any sign of his disappoint show through.

He said, he had also greatly missed all the usual comestible treats; Maltesers, Mini Daims, salted popcorn etc., but when Her Maj asks you if you want cream or jam on the top of your scone, well, one mustn’t appear to be ungrateful……

….. but he did admit that he sloshed rather as he strolled back through the grounds of Her Maj’s gaff, at the end of the evening  ……..

…… to his accommodation. 

Obviously, Hugh has to be terribly discrete when discussing any of his connections of a Royal type nature, there was so much “gossip” he wanted to share with Darrell, but if anything should ever get out ……. he would be severely and irrevocably catheterised and instantly excommunicated and that would just be too shameful……

…… something Darrell has grown to understand over their long years of  friendship.

However, Hugh didn’t think it would hurt to tell Darrell that Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne was simply an absolute darling, so polite, natural, funny and along with Zara, just one of the girls. You really would never have guessed she was one of the “Balcony Crowd”.  Everyone adored her, as did Hugh.

As for the “Mosquito Duo”, the less said the better, let’s just say that any accidental but painful catching of ankles with Hugh’s specially commissioned Lucite walking cane was just that, pure accident and totally unconnected to any danger of potential regal upstaging.
