We Try Clean G ……..

Now, as you know we very much appreciate a well turned out cocktail ……

Clean G Non Alcoholic Gin

….. plus, we are also not adverse to the odd, free, cheeky sample or two ……

…… so, when we indeed received a free sample of Clean Co’s Clean G, a non alcoholic (botanical) gin, we were understandably G-curious …….

….. and it would have looked most rude for Darrell not to have got out the tonic, ice and a few slices of lime for our experimental tasting delectation.

The bumf seemed very convincing ………

…… but what would our highly attuned palates say?

Well, it certainly had a very definite and unmistakable gin nose to it  …….

We try Clean G. Non Alcoholic Gin..

….. and if we hadn’t known it was a “fake”  we’d think we may have been fooled by the aroma.

We try Clean G

As for the taste, if we’re honest, it was gin-ish, but perhaps it could have been a touch dryer with a more waspish bite? It was almost there, but a we all thought a tiny something was just missing …….

Non Alchohlic Gin. Clean G.

……. but perhaps that was simply knowing that no matter how much we imbibed (though always staying strictly within our weekly limit)  we would never get that certain frisson you experience with a real life alcoholic tipple ……. or the hiccoughs for that matter.

Since Darrell has a bottle of proper gin in his beloved and amply stocked cocktail cabinet, on this occassion, though very pleasant and refreshing especially on a hot summers day, we think we’ll stick to said real thing, but still award  Clean G a pretty decent and simple 7.5 out of 10 non juniper berries on our world famous Richter Scale of Non Alcohol Noms.  What are we like?

A valiant effort, and a fine review, even if the drink isn't quite nomtastic.

"The bumf seemed very convincing ………"

The word bumf, or bumpf, comes from schoolboy slang "bum-fodder", which originally meant toilet paper, and later became papers and paperwork. Here endeth today's lesson.

Good to know there is a decent alternative if alcohol is a 'no go' for the evening....JantheFan x
