Please forgive the below par quality of the pictures below …….. poor Nigel was fighting to take selfies in the midst of a particularly cruel, wintery storm, including thunder and lightening …… and what follows are the best of a very bad bunch, bless him!
So, to alleviate some of the monotonous, plodding boredom of getting to school to listen to his beloved readers followed by the school run Nigel has taken to studying the names of some of the houses along the route …… they are an odd mix, of which he is presently looking for a common denominator, Mr D, font of all obscure knowledge?????
So far he’s educated himself on the life of St Rene https://www.jesuits.global/saint-blessed/saint-rene-goupil/
…… and Belgrano, the ship, the town in Conwy and the city in Buenos Aires. Both names already having a familiar ring to them ………
……. but Pelistry? What sort of name is that? To the untutored, such as the little fella, it sounded like some sort of weird off shoot of chemistry or even Palmistry? The study of Peli’s?
However, not wishing to been found “wanting” of an intellectual type nature, once Nigel got home he was soon Googling and it turns out that Pelistry is a particularly lovely bay near St Mary’s on the romantic Isles of Scilly!

……. with images that were a far cry from the tempest tossed gale Nigel had found himself in the middle of a few hours earlier, but at least the situation had its positive side as he’d once more increased his learning ……. you just gotta love him and his constant musings!

Maybe the names are random.
Nigel certainly gets a-pondering. St René, the patron saint of anaesthetists, was a Jesuit.
'Give me a child till he is seven years old, and I will show you the man.'
So said St Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit Brotherhood, a teaching order of monks.
Oh, dear. What has happened? I tried to access the latest "Monkey News" instalment, at midnight, UK time, and there was nothing to be seen. I hope everyone is OK, and Monkey hasn't come down with the dreaded lurgy.
What a brilliant thing to do - one of the best things about reading books is the research I can do on some of the places and people mentioned - but I have to say I have never seen any houses with names worthy of research. I'm liking this very much. JantheFan x
