The Place of Nigel’s Dreams ……Mother Hubbard's, Worcester

Nigel has oft been held spellbound by tales of olden day school puddings of years gone by ………

…… and though the Cook Lady at school (on Nigel’s reading days) does a mean fruit salad, jelly, yoghurt or watermelon slice, it’s not quite the same as the rock hard, chocolate shortbread and green, peppermint custard combo of Darrell’s and my school days.  My personal favourite was always Manchester Tart, with second helpings often begged.

However, perhaps Mother Hubbard's in Worcester could finally make these simple, gastronomic dreams come true for the little fella. Unfortunately, on this occassion, they were shut, it being a little early in the day ……. but when he got home, a tad crestfallen (of a so near yet so far type scenario)  we thought we’d make plans to fix it for him, even if he has to wait until the New Year, December being a bit of a chock a block month.

We are sure Mr D (our top correspondent in Mexico) also has very fond memories of the cornflake tart of his childhood, back when he was English, but now as a fully fledged Mexican, we very much doubt it’s on the menu in such exotic climes …….. so, in the spirit of goodwill to all men etc. at this time of year, Nigel has pledged to embrace and eat more than enough for Mr D’s long felt as well!  What is he like?
