As Cadbury have bought out two Mystery Bars, with us trying the 01 one last week, it would be rude for us not to try the 02 one too!
However, this whole taste challenge thing has totally thrown us and as a result, shame faced, I have to admit, a really HEATED debate ensued chez Les Towers.
To our expert and refined palates (after all, we’ve been doing confectionary reviews for years now), it appeared to smell and taste exactly the same as the 01 one ……….
….. and I’m afraid Nigel was accused of being totally remiss in forgetting which one we’d tried first (the 01 one) and as a result picked exactly the same one up as before.
It was only when Darrell decided to double check our original post to find that Nigel was excommunicated wholly exonerated and full apologies proffered by all, as he’d bought the 02 one from Iceland (the frozen food shop, not the very cold country) exactly as per his instructions.
The 02 one certainly has a familiar fruity whiff about, not that dissimilar to the 01 one.
The fondant filling’s appearance gave nothing away, as it has been deliberately left white so as not to colour anyone’s judgement.
Even when Nigel decided to forensically shave one of his pieces to whittle down the risk of flavour contamination from chocolate, it still came across as rather raspberry’ery, as we had concluded for the 01 one. The only difference we could absolutely pin down was that the 02 one left a rather lingering “fruity” aftertaste, which wasn’t much help anyway.
So, we’re really up the Mersey without a paddle I’m afraid, we have no answers.
The only way to truly compare and contrast, Darrell has deduced, is to buy another 01 one (I can see this is getting expensive) so we can try both Mystery Bars at the same time and as such he’ll be nipping up to the aforementioned Iceland tomorrow morning to make a considered purchase.
No way is this going to beat us ……. the saga will be continued ………

Very clever.
Maybe Cadbury have been very clever, too, in making both bars identical and getting you to buy an extra one, just to be sure.
Very clever of Nigel, as well, shaving his bit. (No, not plural! Not "shaving his bits!")
Hubby has tried both and like the, can’t decide what the 2 flavours are.

Oh I'm waiting to hear how this one goes....I was reading this entry and had a sudden urge to each chocolate. All we had in was a kitkat...that has done the trick nicely. JantheFan x
