Gladdening The Springtide Heart …… No Matter What.

It has to be said that spring has truly sprung Chez Towers ………

……… with our bank now a romantic abundance of blossom …….

……. and Darrell finding  martenitsas, the lovely Balkan springtime tradition of hanging plaited red and white threads  with beads on branches of trees, while on his travels.

So with a spring in his step, as well as in his heart, he decided that we should also herald in the spring in our own inimitable way.

With the evenings becoming gradually lighter and the spring sunshine trying its best to break through, he thought that a couple of strands of solar  lights running along the fence in the communal garden would be a treat for everyone. We’ve done it before, a couple of years ago, but there was a complaint (singular)  so we decided not to replenish them when they eventually stopped working ……..

…….. but, with the worries of the world and life as it is at the moment, we really don’t care ………

Said lights are now in situ, after a few choice words from Darrell as the wire threads was a devil to untangle, but he got there in the end.  It might take a week or so of sunlight to get them really working, but it still looks magical when they go on at dusk ……..

…… and if these bright lights do disturb anyone, well, we’re perfectly happy for questions to be asked in Parliament and even more willing to answer them, as well as help in any governmental inquiries and reports, if required!

What are we like …….. if not purveyors of the most twinkly-ist of nights,  happy days!

I had never heard of martenitsas. They look great. I first thought it was the lovely Kata who had put them up, but she is from Hungary, and not the Balkans.

Your lights look spectacular. Was it old misery guts upstairs who complained the last time? BOO!!! HISS!!!

I think you’re definitely doing the right thing-what a lovely gesture. Let’s hope there’s no complaints this time!
