Well, We Tried ………………………

Even though we knew it really would be cheaper to go on an extra Greek Odyssey this year ………….

……… and tried to convince ourselves we’d much rather watch the Eurovision Song Contest, our televisual highlight of the year at home …….

………. and then again the following week at Hugh’s  ……..…….

……….. we still tried to get tickets ……..……….

………. in fact, we joined four long but patient queues ………

……. as we’d have been happy to go to any one of the nine scheduled shows, we just wanted to be there …….

…….. but although we left it unsaid between us …….  

…….. not wishing to tempt any sort of fate……..

……. we all, I think, silently and spookily sensed that we probably didn’t stand a cats chance, swinging in hell, of securing one ticket, let alone a multiple of three ……..

………. despite getting ever so tantalisingly close  ………

……. and hanging on to the faint hope that perhaps, just this once, the Eurovision gods were looking down on us.

However, when we did eventually got through (all four times), no matter what permutations we put in for each show …….

……… there was no room at the inn ………

…….. until at 01.33 we knew we could do no more ……..

……… safe in the knowledge we had tried! Hey ho …….. we’re a trifle down at the moment ………  but NEVER EVER out, upwards and onwards, tally ho and all that!
