Good Morning, good morning, good morning …….. it has to be said that The Towers is currently rampant with tangible and palpable Coronation excitement and we’ve had a surprise present ………. thank you soooooo much Seaside Karen for our Royal Coronation Bunting, (of which more in a later post) ………
……… and to add to that, in devil may care mood, we’ve even put up a very pared down string of bunting in the back garden just to upset Mr Misery upstairs. Questions will no doubt be asked in Parliament about our terrible wanton behaviour, but, if you’ll pardon the expression, “sucks boo”!
We will be glued to the TV all morning, before going “up town” to join in the revelry up there, with our beloved niece and nephew .
However, the festivities have already started for Nigel because he was invited to his Year 2 readers Coronation Picnic Lunch ……..
…… followed by a whole school celebration with a kingly song from each year group ……….
……. interspersed with the story of our new King’s life …….
……. a bible reading, a prayer and a very rousing singing of the “new” national anthem.
However, for Nigel, the highlight was “his” Year 2 song, where he had a little trouble holding it all together ……..
…… so thank goodness there was the cutting of the Cook Lady’s Coronation cake to distract everyone’s attention from the little fella’s sniffs and surreptitious eye dabbing …….. before the heavens opened and everyone had to make a quick dash indoors, crowns and tiaras, plus a few fascinators flying in all directions!
And, like every good party, Nigel returned home carefully holding his special piece of cake, wrapped in a napkin, to share with Darrell and I, the former noting it’s very ample sufficiency of royal icing, which was, we have to say, truly nomtastic ……….
…….the perfect start then to a very memorable royal weekend ……..

What a lovely day you’ve had! And I can’t tell you how pleased I am that the bunting arrived in the nick of time!! I do hope your neighbour likes the bunting (you can dream!!) we’ve spent all afternoon stringing up bunting all across our front lawn, luckily the residents here all seem very happy. We’re having our party tomorrow and I have a life sized King Charles all ready to join in the festivities. Happy days indeed!
An excellent day, at school.
I got up very early, to watch His Maj, the King. I woke up at 5.30am, and saw only a bit of the ceremony. It was very moving. I love Handel's Zadok the Priest, in particular.
The bunting looks lovely, such a great gift.
