Yesterday, Nigel found a true, real life treasure ……..
….. to wit, only a decent sized marrow (?) struggling against all odds to grow and survive in the, to be honest, sadly neglected, raised garden area outside the Europa Supermarket, up the road.
For the little fella it was a total joy and a miracle of nature to behold …..
….. and needless to say, an emotional discovery!
There is also, he thinks, a few small stalks of rhubarb struggling through too, next to it. So, in this the season of the Harvest Vegetable Festival, Nigel decided he’d take it upon himself to keep a close eye on his find and perhaps collect some of our old, used tea leaves to put round the bottom to help feed and build them up …….. bless his little cotton socks. What is he like?

Well done, Nigel! Great idea - you are certainly a good citizen.
I can see Nigel as the next Monty Don or even better..Bob Flowerdew!

That looks like Ruby Chard not. Rhubarb. You can eat leaves and stalks Nigel. Well spotted.
Oh it's turning into a little Gardening Stop here - I have nothing to add to these experts who are adding their wealth of knowledge in their replies, but a little treasure has young Nige found! JantheFan x
