Dreams of 2022 ………..

As you read this we’ll still be in the midst of our annual Iris and Bertie New Year Sleepover …… but despite Darrell champing at the bit to channel his inner Mrs Hinch, we finally decided, after some debate, that we’d only do the very basic of festive tidying up, pointing out to Darrell that if he did start anything he’d only have to do it all over again in the following days afterwards…… and how right we were! 

You should see the state of the hall after our rather erm, muddy midnight walk and bathroom after warming up the little darlings!  Logic told us that if we waited, Darrell would then be able to give The Towers a proper robust and vigorous top and bottoming, which he always finds immensely satisfying, especially when he’s done and looks round to survey “the full glory of the sparkle”!

When the little ones have gone back home later this afternoon, we’ll finally be able to sit down together to see the New Year in properly with the bottle of lager Darrell went out for yesterday. Ok, it’s Turkish, but it’s still incredibly evocative as we’ve supped of its pleasures in many a Greek taverna over the years, but unfortunately a bottle of Mythos is all a bit Greek to the vitlers of Evesham.

No resolutions this year, just a toast to the dream of the 2020 Greek Odyssey that we’ve had to rescheduled twice now …………. perhaps 2022 will finally be the year we will actually be able to chink our Mythos bottles in real life, on a hot Eloundian beach ……… never, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, will I be more happy to witness Darrell standing proud in his beloved budgie smugglers before he dives into the crystal clear, turquoise waters of Crete ……….
