Nigel & Lu Enjoy The Festive Remnants Of Bridgenorth.

Yesterday Nigel and Lu decided to take in the historic and beautiful pleasures of Bridgenorth ……..

……. for a little fresh air and rural change of scene…….

…….. and low and behold the very first thing they spied was a knitted nativity in a knitting shop window ……..

Knitted Nativity

Even though Nigel now has a knitted nativity of his very own, a very generous gift from our beloved fan and follower Karen, currently sailing the high seas on a romantic festive cruise, a knitted nativity still holds Nigel in hypnotic thrall with all it’s awe and wonder …….

……. but a sad and droopy snowman and slightly odd, onsie clad gingerbread man  a little less so.

It was in the High Street where the little fella saw his most favourite and best window display of the festive season, telling the story of Cinderella, which he said it was not only emotional but more than worthy of  a window in London’s Selfridges or Harrods, let alone a little market town in Shropshire.

There was more poignancy when Nigel and Lu decided to have lunch at the Winding House Tea Rooms,  a place where Andy worked for well over a year when the whole building was being restored to it’s former glory.  https://www.thewindinghouse.com/

Sadly, the staff been very let down by an Afternoon Cream Tea no show, however, in their place Nigel and Lu were offered the best table in the whole place, with the most romantic view down to the river, which held so many memories ………

……… and well, it would have been rude not to accept such a kind invitation.

Nigel also availed himself of the most excellent cheese on toast, while Lu opted for a festively seasoned scone and bottomless pot of tea.

It was all very lovely, very lovely indeed ……..

…… with Nigel taking note of the beaded sugar bowl cover and tongs, thinking that when the time comes, something of a similar bent would make a most excellent present for Darrell and/or his best friend and mentor of all things fragrant and gentile Hugh.  Happy Days!

I like Bridgnorth, with its high town and low town and its funicular railway, which I spied from the window!
