So much for Network Rail increasing the height of the metal fence, (much to our dismay) at the end of our communal garden. It was meant to keep people from climbing over it ……….. which, to the best of our knowledge, has only happened once in the six years we’ve been at The Towers and that involved a rather exciting police and helicopter chase!
So, imagine my great surprise when I spyed a gentleman traversing the very steep bank, having already crossed the busy main train line with a full sized kayak!
It seems he had permission, which knowing the history of said fence I very much doubt ………..
…… saying that said kayak had got caught in the ice on the river yesterday (what ice ?????) and that he’d come to retrieve it! Hmmmmmm, why didn’t he just simply walk along the river path with said kayak upon rescuing it, instead of climbing over the fence on the other side of the bridge ………
…….. negotiating an equally steep bank (upwards), crossing the railway line, coming down our bank and then climbing over the fence at the bottom, passing the kayak to his awaiting amigo?
It all seems rather strange and fishy ……..
However, I am loathe to report it, as goodness only knows what Network Rail would then want to erect to prevent any further such occurrences …….. watch towers, search lights and electrification?

Doubtless, all of this will have Nigel's mind going at ninety to the dozen.
All rather suspicious, and, in the words of Toyah Willcox - "It's A Mystery."
