A Day Of Very Raw And Robust Emotional ………

Last Friday, it has to be said, The Towers was filled with unbridled and unfettered emotion of a truly emotional nature, especially for Nigel, it was a day, I don’t think the little fella will ever, ever, ever get over!

It started with our lovely Postman Rob struggling under a mahoooosive parcel and asking if we were expecting anything special, to which we had to simply reply that we weren’t ……. but as the parcel was clearly addressed to us, it would have been rude not to accept it and delve it’s contents the second we got it into the lounge.

What can I say? Inside, it didn’t take long to realise was a knitted nativity along with a letter …………………..

IMG_9070

……. it had been sent by Karen, one of our lovely, lovely long time fans …….

……. at this point Nigel was completely “gone” ………….

IMG_9071

…….. there was no doing with him, how he had missed the knitted Nativity in Motorworld’s window every Christmas back in the Homeland …….

…….. and now Karen was entrusting him with hers, her family had grown up and on moving to a new flat by the sea had found that she didn’t have a place to display it anymore but had thought of Nigel and his awe and wonder and long felt longing ………and had sent it to him, Nigel now had a knitted nativity of his very own.

Darrell and I could do nothing with Nigel, who by this point was just a quivering mess of snot and tears, except take him to his room and tuck the poor little thing up in bed to sob for as long as he needed.

In the meantime Darrell and I decided to set the knitted nativity up for him to see in all its glory when he was in a more composed state …….

…… and when he was, not a single word was said for a while, as Nigel just sat and gazed at Karen’s wonderful gift ……

IMG_9060IMG_9063

……. it was a moment when to quote Sir Baron Ronan of Keating  “You say it best, when you say nothing at all”  ………

IMG_9059

…….. but THANK YOU SO MUCH KAREN, you’ve made one little monkey, very, very happy.

Also in the box were a pair of knitted Victorian carol singer mice which Nigel is adamant will go in somewhere in his and Darrell’s bedroom, perhaps under one of Darrell’s bottle brush Christmas trees with a little sprinkle of faux snow scattered underneath, Darrell has been charged with erm …… “sorting it”

Every single one of our fans/followers is very special to us, without them we wouldn’t be here ……. and sometimes they surprise us beyond words …….. Thank you Karen, if ever we can do anything for you, you’ve only to ask xxxxxxxxxx

WOW! What a wonderful and thoughtful gift from Karen!

I love the sheep, in particular.

Will Nigel want to have this on display all year round?

In Mexico, they have huge Nativities in churches. One thing I like about them, is the different types of animals in them. You may find chickens or ducks, alongside the sheep. Or wombats.

I also like that they don't bother about scale. You can find a chicken as big as Joseph, or a camel or donkey coming up to Mary's knees.

Oh my goodness-what an absolutely wonderful gesture and an amazing gift. No wonder Nigel was lost for words.

Thank you so much for showing us the grand unboxing of the Nativity Scene, I’m so happy that it’s now yours. And as for Nigel, with his little face of awe and wonder.....what can I say, I’m just so glad I made his day!
Enjoy
Love Karen xx
