Poor Darrell, he spent most of yesterday on the computer until I swear he was went completely cross eyed and hallucinating just a tad!
However his mission was a successful one, though of sad sort of bitter sweet type nature. Last year, around this time, he was doing the exact same thing, our first meltdown was in it’s infancy but it quickly became apparent that our next planned Greek Odyssey (booked that Boxing Day) was not going to happen, so he had the foresight to re schedule it for May of this year………..
But with a new lockdown at the start of this year, with ever closing borders and new quarantine rules, he again saw that the chances of us getting away and feeling 100% comfortable about travelling to foreign climes in full PE kit and mask was really not a thought any of us really relished as we wait to be called up for our covid jabs, so Darrell decided the best thing to do was do it all again, this time for June 2022 ……
…… returning to Elounda in Crete, same hotel and everything. We absolutely loved it there, especially after we read The Island by Victoria Hislop and felt that when we left there was still more for us to do, like taking the “Little Train Tour”" into the hills.
Whether we actually get there or not, is, I guess, still very much in the lap of the Greek Gods …….
…… which is why Nigel says he is going to light a candle each night in his little souvenir tealight Greek church he “randomly” found in a charity shop in Evesham. He says it’s all clear to him now, finding it had been a spooky omen of things to come and that he’d been guided to make a considered purchase by said Greek Gods, after he had seen something similar in our last Greek hotel and had searched in every single gift shop for one to bring home. Who knows, perhaps he’s right, our fingers and toes are rampantly crossed and Nigel’s candles well and truly lit!

Let's hope you are able to get your Greek week, or two, even sooner than June 2022.
Whilst there, will you meet, and nominate someone to be "Greek of the week?"
I felt quite emotional reading this... that little souvenir tealight Greek church is something very special. JantheFan x
