Darrell And Hugh Have A Heart To Heart

Darrell says that Hugh took him aside last night as he said there was something he wanted to talk over with him …….

It seems after all these weeks in meltdown, cosily ensconced in Le Chicken Coop, a million miles away from the glitz and glamour of his usual showbiz life, Hugh had been considering whether to maybe put away his collection of sequined dinner jackets and leave the constant waiting in Green Rooms and all that raconteuring to Biggins…… or at least consider going part time.

Darrell was a little taken aback, Hugh, when he was out and about in London was Mr Showbiz, but the Hugh he always stayed with, (whether in Worcester or London) was just Hugh, his best friend, a kindly, if slightly eccentric, extremely generous host and fount of all things de rigueur and a la mode, who generally kept his feather boas under the bed, unless they partook in the odd cheeky cocktail, two or three …… and then was, naturally, boas akimbo!

Darrell thought for a while and then told Hugh that as far as he could see, there really wasn’t any need to hurry into making any life changing decisions, sadly the likes of London Palladium etc. were destined to stay firmly shut for many months to come, with the prospect of a 2020 Panto season in tatters. If Hugh didn’t fancy giving quite so many soundbites to the likes of This Morning etc., he was sure they would understand, but with the continuing covid uncertainty he reckoned Hugh still had plenty of time to consider his future.

…. And then if the thought of baking his own bread, …….

…… or the excitement of hatching yet another flock of baby chickens in the back bedroom  ………

……. was still as strong in January than the lure of an awards ceremony or sharing the Royal Box at Ascot  ……

……. then why not ……. ?????

Life is too short to spend sewing on the millionth sequin on your latest outrageous panto costume …….. if your heart really isn’t in it any more.
