Iris & Bertie’s Inconsequential Scarecrow

During meltdown Iris and Bertie helped create a scarecrow for their garden in the hope of scaring away the rampant birds of Evesham who seemed hell bent in preventing the garden becoming an oasis for nature and children.

Unfortunately said scarecrow appears not to have been scary enough …….

…….. it seems that a cinched in waist and co-ordinating scarf/t-shirt combo just does not hold an adequate scare factor to prevent the little blighters from pecking away at any fledgling seed brave enough to make an appearance.

Nigel, naturally, offered his assistance should they wish to start all over again, promising a scarecrow so terrifying that no feathered creature would dare caste their beady eye on the seedlings of Castle Greyskull ever again …….

…… and if they did, then he would certainly make good use of the pots and pans in Iris and Bertie’s mud kitchen (obviously of a noise type nature and definitely not of a cooking type one, I hasten to add).  I think the Lovely Laura and Tom the Scientist politely thanked Nigel for his very kind offer, dreading to think what he was planning on creating, but reasoned that since a few plants have managed survived the avian onslaught of 2020……….

…….. maybe another scarecrow could wait until next spring, giving them time to present a new one as a fait accompli….

……… accepting Nigel’s generous offer of help, but without the fear of having something from the apocalypse in their backyard!

I'm sure TtS could come up with a very scientific bird scarer, with a little thought.

Scarecrows scare lots of types of birds, not just crows. Maybe, it is time they came up with a new name. Scarebird? It just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Oh I shudder to think what young Nige would come up with - but it's nearing Halloween perhaps he could put one together for that event.... a scary hallowed scarecrow. JantheFan x
