Pricking Out My Christmas Trees

Seedlings Monkey with seedlings
Do you remember my Christmas trees that I had in my Advent Tut in December, well, since I showed you them last, 2 more have popped up, how BRILLIANT is that?  So now I have 4 altogether.
Preparing pots pricking out
I thought it was about time that I pricked out the seedlings and put them in proper plant pots.  I had to be very very careful because they are very delicate.

I am very proud.
Seedlings on window sill
I have put them back on the window sill where they started growing.  To think I will have 4 tiny weeny Christmas trees that will take pride of place amongst my festive decor this Christmas.

Stuff of a Scientific Nature is BRILLIANT!

Picture 049
The secret of being a good scientist is looking VERY hard ….
Picture 050
Looking VERY hard and REALLY close  …..

Looking VERY VERY hard and REALLY REALLY close and with BOTH eyes open.
Picture 052
If you do that, you will see scientific stuff happen …..
Picture 055 Picture 058
My friend Alex is a proper scientist in a proper laboratory room, with bunsen burners and test tubes and pipettes – which must be very romantic and glamorous.

She looks at everything very hard, really close and with both eyes open too.

Wash Day Monday

washing line
Isn’t this sunny weather brilliant? I don’t need to put my washing in the tumble dryer any more because I can hang it out on the line, it’s free and better for the environment.
Blackbird peg
I also have some lovely pegs to use too.
Blackbird pegs
They are like little blackbirds.  When I use them I hum ‘sing a song of six pence’, “Monkey was in the garden, pegging out his clothes, when down came a blackbird …….”

Checking Out of My Premier Inn – Part 5

Well, now I can say that not only do I have the same accent as Lennie Henry but we also stay at the same hotels, perhaps have even slept in the same bed …..
Before checking out I had a final shower ….
Picture 327
I can never work hotel showers properly ……..
Picture 333
Sometimes I spend more time fiddling with the plumbing than actually showering , trying to get the water just right and hopping in and out of the shower as it runs hot and cold!Picture 339
I just hate it when I get in and its freezing cold ….. and I can't catch my breath!

Checking Out Premier Inns – Part 4

The menu for the restaurant was huge – so huge that I could hide behind it!

A Little Bedtime Reading at a Premier Inn – Part 3

There is nothing I enjoy more than reading the breakfast menu before I go to sleep in a hotel …….
j l
Nothing beats a full, full English – I like a croissant – but when faced with bacon. eggs, sausage, mushroom, half a tomatoe etc. there is just no contest!
Picture 238
It gives me something lovely to dream about.

Checking Out Premier Inns – Part 2

I tell you who else would love to stay in a Premier Inn, especially as his favourite colour (in his teens) was purple ….. Donny Osmond - ……. Premier Inns are very purple …… he would feel very much at home.
untitled Picture 347
Everything is purple, the corridors …….
Picture 276
even this funny thing that lay across the bottom of my bed, that served no purpose, was purple
Picture 344
In fact I added to the colour scheme myself with my purple toothbrush which matched the purple stripes in the shower curtain.

Checking Out Premier Inns – Part 1

Picture 349
I have had a short break in Bristol – two nights at a Premier Inn and thought, as I had nothing better to do, I would give it a good check over seeing as Lennie Henry speaks so highly of them.
Picture 352
When I checked in I did ask the lady on reception if I had been booked into the same room Lennie Henry had stayed in, she said she could not guarantee it, but, if not, Lennie would have stayed in an identical room.
hospitality tea
I checked the complimentary beverages first, as I was a bit parched after my journey – hmmmm, very basic,  I wouldn’t have minded a packet of complimentary bourbons or custards creams – I bet Lennie would have been proffered a whole assortment of biscuits when he phoned down requesting a bedtime digestive.
b
I also checked out the sign in the bathroom about forgotten wash items ….. I had forgotten my cotton buds so phoned down to reception ….. a la Lennie …..
Picture 269
I also asked if they had a bonnet de douche, the receptionist said she did not speak French, so I asked her for a shower hat in English.
Picture 263
I was a little disappointed that there were no complementary bath products in the bathroom except for some Lux shower gel in a dispenser in the shower – which didn’t  quite have the same mystic of an assortment of little bottles that I have had at other hostelries.
Picture 331
However it sufficed for my bath time needs.

In The Words of the Sainted Sir Cliff “Congratulations” Lucy!

Picture 040
Lucy has changed her job from HR, boo hiss – she didn’t like it very much  to Payroll, hoooorayyyyy – which has made her VERY happy – so I felt the need for a great sense of occasion …..
Monkey in bow tie
…… and it seemed only fitting that I dressed appropriately to serve a good champagne and marmite canapés.

With Sir Cliff warbling “Congratulations” in the background, the subtle ambiance of our family celebration was just perfect, in fact my eyes were quite moist.
And Lucy was very appreciative of all the money bags I got for her from the bank, as a little new job present!

Sorting Bandages For Tristan’s Rugby Tour Isn’t It.

Monkey Checking out the first aid box
Tristan is off on a Rugby Tour next week, so I helped him sort out the first aid box his team always takes with them. He is made of tougher stuff than I am, his tales of cauliflower ears and noses broken in five different  places made me feel queasy.
But, when he talks, he makes me laugh, as he finishes every sentence with “ Isn’t it, wasn’t it, doesn’t it?” ever so fast and calls me Boyo!
