High Tea At Wedgewood.

The reason for Nigel’s visit to the Homeland was to accept a very kind invitation from the “W-ton Relies” to partake in afternoon tea at the Wedgewood Tea Room at The World of Wedgewood ………

……. which, what with Covid and various lockdowns it’s been a very on again, off again sort of arrangement.

Let’s just say, according to Nigel, it was well worth the wait ……..

…… and it certainly lived up to all the palpable and tangible pent up excitement of the past few months!

Nigel said the food was just too wonderful for words, all very delicate and refined, just how he likes his afternoon tea. He tried his best to finish it all, but in the end was forced to ask for equally refined doggy bag to take his lemon macaroon home. As for the unlimited supply of signature loose leaf teas, he says he managed three different pots, Rococo Flowers, Camelia and Blue Pagoda and then hoped no one noticed his tummy sloshing a bit as he got up from the table.

Everything was served on real life, genuine, contemporary  design Wedgewood tableware with cutlery accompaniment,  the likes of which are only to be found in the realms of Darrell’s deepest design dreams.

Admittedly, Nigel was a little nervous at first using such posh plates etc. but once he relaxed he was convinced it made the food taste all the more sublime and nomtastic.

When they had all finished it would have looked very rude not to peruse the adjoining very tastefully arranged shop ……

…… if only to wallow, Nigel told me, in the products beauty, luxury and unquestionable elegance ……..

…….. however, sadly it was all a little out of his budget, (even in the Wedgewood seconds shop across the piazza) for him to make a considered purchase, would that he could …… but it was an experience the little fella will never forget ……. especially his smoked salmon, crème fraiche and dill sandwich!  What is he like?

Excellent. Were there cucumber sandwiches, with the crusts cut off, on offer?

My mum was partial to a bit of Wedgwood blue. She had just that - one bit.
