Cyril Gets A Postcard

Tristan has gone back to Wales as he has heavy rugby commitments, but he likes to keep in touch with Cyril by postcard.

This is his latest one.

Cyril isn’t very good with joined up writing, if he used as much concentration on his reading and writing as he does on Jeremy Kyle there would be no need for him to ask me to help him read it.

Tristan has very good writing because he is posh and applies himself

Cyril hasn’t been to the seaside yet, perhaps in the summer ….. he is hoping that one day Jeremy Kyle will do a seaside special!

Magic Hot Chocolate

I am feeling a tiny bit nauseous at the moment as I have just drunk five mugs of hot chocolate – but I have had so much fun …..

I found this BRILLIANT set of stencils that puts lovely patterns on your hot chocolate or coffee – I’m not sure about putting them on a cup of tea though ….

I’ve put a swirl, hearts, stars and musical notes on my drinks – the musical one made me hum “I’m drinking up my hot chocolate” in my head, to the tune of White Christmas

But my favourite of all was the smiley face!  Now I must go and lie down for a  little while.

Snails

I love snails.  I am not sure if mini beast is a nice name for them because there isn’t anything beastly about them. 

It must be nice to have a shell on your back that you can curl up into when you are bored.

Spumming Volcanoes

All the excitement of my Icelandic presents, reminded me of another gift I received recently …… some indoor fireworks.  I wondered if there was one that could be likened to a miniature volcanic eruption.

The answer was no!

More Treasures from Iceland

 

Yesterday I was so full of the wonder of my piece of volcano (and pumice stone), that I forgot to mention my other Icelandic gift from the Young Ladies at school. …….

They also bought me a big bag of Icelandic toffees, how BRILLIANT is that?

I have to admit, I did check the packet for dust and ash, but as it was a sealed bag, there was no real risk of volcanic contamination.

I have shared them out between all my friends so they too can enjoy a flavour of Iceland…….

…… which is mainly liquorice.

Icelandic Treasures Beyond My Wildest Dreams.

 

I have been a little tense over the Easter holidays because some of the Young Ladies at school have been to Iceland as part of their Geographic studies, mum said she had included for terrorist activity in the risk assessment but had underplayed the possibility of a volcanic eruption !

But, they have returned safely ……. and look what they have bought back for me…….. some lava from the volcano, (I won’t even attempt to name it).  I am filled with such awe and wonder, this has got to be the best present I have ever received.

I just can’t stop looking at it, I am so lucky……. but I hope the removal of this small and seemingly insignificant piece of rock hasn’t in away accelerated or exasperated the events of the past week or so.

 ...... And it may be my overactive imagination but I am convinced it’s still a little bit warm………

A Useful and Thoughtful Gift For Her Majesty?

What do you do when your birthday candle is too large to fit in the hole of your faux china novelty birthday cake?

Get one of these …………………. its a candle end sharpener, how BRILLIANT is that?

 

I was thinking that I might send one to Her Majesty the Queen, I bet she could do with one, what with all the candles and candlesticks, she must have to worry about when entertaining Heads of State and Ambassadors etc.

I bet she would be well chuffed.

Britain’s Got Talent

Britain’s Got Talent started last night – I just love it …. but I think I have left it too late to go on this years show…. I did think I could try and ring Simon Cowell on the off chance he’d see me specially, but I think he’s too busy making arrangements for his forthcoming nuptials, so I will have to wait and hone my talent to perfection for next year.

I have put together a ventriloquist act with a mummy and baby kangaroo, which means I have to use two voices, the mummy and a squeaky baby, sometimes I get the voices mixed up ….

 
….. so really it wouldn’t hurt to wait another year.

Time For A Change

I wonder if I should change my hairstyle?

Boiled, Mashed, Chipped, Roasted and Jacket.

After my success with my Christmas trees I am trying my hand at potatoes.

Its HARD work but we’ll have free chips for months when they are ready or harvested as we horticulturists say.
 
And I find mans work is very satisfying, providing for my family.

I have marked all the gardening programmes in the Radio Times so I don’t miss any.

A Good Idea at the Time ….

I love my little Christmas trees so much and I thought I could record their progress using freeze frame photography

It seemed a good idea when I started but after the first 300 shots my finger went numb and  I got a bit bored and fancied a cup of tea and a custard cream ….

I think I will just take a picture of them every week or so, I don’t really fancy sitting here every day until Christmas, counting to ten and then clicking.

Pricking Out My Christmas Trees

Do you remember my Christmas trees that I had in my Advent Tut in December, well, since I showed you them last, 2 more have popped up, how BRILLIANT is that?  So now I have 4 altogether.

I thought it was about time that I pricked out the seedlings and put them in proper plant pots.  I had to be very very careful because they are very delicate.

I am very proud.

I have put them back on the window sill where they started growing.  To think I will have 4 tiny weeny Christmas trees that will take pride of place amongst my festive decor this Christmas.
