The Lights Go On In Evesham

Last night Nigel took himself off to witness the much anticipated festive light switching on ceremony in Evesham.

Up in town  he said that it was suitably cold enough to give you a de rigueur Christmas red  nose and all the free Waitrose mince pies went down a treat.  They didn’t seem to mind/notice that he went round erm…..several times to partake,  which may account for him only wanting a tiny supper when he got home.

There were fairground rides of which he availed himself and a Test Your Strength machine on which he said he excelled, winning a (plastic) sword for all his efforts.

The various choirs got him belting out a few choruses himself, one gentleman even gave him 50p thinking he was an off piste singer. But it was the countdown that Nigel was really waiting for, followed by the switching on of said lights and fireworks.

As the crowd counted down from 10 to 1 he said that the hairs on his arms (and legs) began to stand up on end …… there was a huge wooooooooo from the assembled throng and then there was light ………

……. immediately followed by a wonderful and very noisy firework display, which even Darrell and I could hear back at The Towers.   Evesham was son illuminare, which according to Nigel was emotional, very emotional.  What is he like?
