Latest Developments On The River Avon .....

Darrell, Nigel and I woke up, almost in unison, very early yesterday morning, all with a spooky sixth sort of feeling in our water.........
........ and went straight to the windows to raise the blinds at the back of  The Towers........
We were greeted by quite a sight.
The river having risen quite considerably since last night, the bank on the opposite side has completely  disappeared, with the water flowing unbelievably fast past The Towers, carrying all manner of debris with it.
Any thought of taking showers, brushing teeth and having breakfast disappeared, as we quickly dressed in favour of seeing what exactly was going on outside.
Just seeing that the river had reached the centre point of the steps that lead down to the river was a good enough gauge as to how far it had risen.
And somehow, during the night all the barges that usually face us had been moved to safe harbour within the marina.
Venturing a little further along we could see that the caravans on the site opposite appeared to be on the cusp .........
....... however, we have heard they are fitted with some sort of rising mechanism, so they should be OK
As for the park ............
........where we went in search of moles on our Halloween Midnight Walk ........
 ...... well, that's now become a lake .........
....... with Nigel beside himself worry about said moles ...... hopefully they have made it to higher climes.
Our managing company are preparing for the worst and sandbags are on their way, although from what we have seen the river has not risen further since we got up.  After breakfast we all assumed our chosen position in front of the windows to monitor the situation. It's all a little bit mesmerizing I have to admit and almost impossible to draw yourself away.
We have had several visits from network rail who are also closely monitoring a mark at the bottom of the bridge ....... with mention of them sending divers in (?????), heaven forbid.
There has also been activity on the bridge which is currently closed, with no trains going to either London or Worcester.
We will continue to keep you informed, we really don't need any more rain, and should the aforementioned sandbags need to be employed, we will be abandoning ship and seeking sanctuary with The Lovely Laura and Tom the Scientist with all our most treasured possessions.

I hope all goes well and the water levels go back down quickly.

Make sure Nigel doesn't put on his swimming trunks and tries to find the swans.
