Lovely Leafy Autumn Days

Monkey In LeavesAutumn Leaves
I just love autumn, the smells, the sounds and the glorious golden sunlight that casts long shadows on a fading afternoon …….
There is nothing like finding a huge pile of leaves and walking through it, kicking the leaves up in all directions.  I love to hear them rustle and musty smell they have.
And I get to wear my lovely trendy hat.

Simple Homemade Gifts …

 Monkey with bunsen burner
One of my favourite episodes of this years ‘The Apprentice’ was when they had to make some bath smellies to sell at a profit ………
 Chemical Monket
….. and that made me think that perhaps I could make some soap for Christmas presents this year ….
Monkey in safety googles
It was very exciting being in a science lab with lots and lots of chemical substances, and I was very careful to take all appropriate safety precautions.
Monkey in lab
I read all the instructions with due diligence before I touched a thing.
Monkey on scales
And I think I weighed everything correctly ……
Monkey with chemicals
and chose nice smells ……..

But I think I may have added a bit too much bubble solution!
Special thanks to Adam for allowing me use use his laboratory facilities, and I hope it didn’t take him too long to clean up the mess.
(Yes, to the eagle eyed among you,  I did sustain a small chemical burn to my hand while in the lab, but after running it under a cold tap for some time it’s now OK, no fur was lost during this experiment.)

Monkey Flu

Picture 093
The doctor says I have Monkey Flu!  He said to stay in bed and take plenty of fluids.  My nose is very sore but I am trying to be brave.
Thank you for all your good wishes, I should be back to normal in a day or so.

I’m a Bit Poorly

Monkey in bed with flu
I’m a bit poorly.  Do you mind if I don’t blog today?
I’ve got a headache and the sniffles and it hurts when I move.  I’ve had a Lemsip and I’ve got a hot water bottle.
I’ll be alright in a little while.

Working Nine to Five……

A lot of people have been asking if I have a job.  The answer is no, but I do like to keep myself busy and help out where I can, on a voluntary basis.
I do a couple of mornings a week in a school uniform shop that is based  in a “nice” school in Wolverhampton . It’s just like a mini Grace Brothers.
Monkey at Till
It’s very important that I make sure that the shop is kept well stocked.
Monkey stocktaking
I like counting the socks best, but they are a bit high up, so I have to stretch to reach them.

Protecting My Banana

 Monkey with Banana Guard
One of the best presents Aunty Jan has ever bought me is my banana guard.
There is nothing worse than finding a squishy bruised banana at the bottom of my bag when I fancy a bite to eat.  It fair turns my stomach, yuk! But thanks to Aunty Jan my lunchtime banana is always in perfect condition when I eat it.

Climbing London Monuments - Zero Tolerance Say Police!

 Monkey in London 2
I don’t advocate clambering all over London’s many and varied monuments, but I couldn’t resist this one ……..
Monkey in London
Fortunately, Aunty Jan was able to get me into shot just before an irate policeman demanded that I get down immediately ……

….. to be honest I don’t think my actions warranted such an intense police intervention!
Monkey and police boat
I can’t believe they followed me when I scarpered swiftish on to a London River Boat Tour.

Humongous Balls

Monkey on a giant ball
No, this is not a weird optical illusion, I really am sitting on a humongous ball!
I didn’t sit on it for too long because I remembered what my old gran used to say about sitting on cold objects and I don’t particularly relish the thought of haemorrhoids and applying Preparation H!

Why is it Cool to Drink Coffee in the Street?

Sophisticated and cool ….
I have tried it, but my mouth jiggles about all over the place as I try to walk and drink at the same time. I end up missing the cup and getting half the coffee down my front, so I much prefer to sit down when I drink.
Mums Monkey with a Coffee
But, on the other hand, it is NOT cool to eat a Greggs sausage roll in the street.  No pouting lips, hair blowing in the wind here, just a bloke with crumbs and grease on his chin.

And it makes you burp.

It’s much better to sit down and allow your system to digest your food properly.

National Poetry Day - Poem for Sir Alan Sugar

I am not much of a poet and I know it, but I am willing to give it a try.
This years theme is “Heroes and Heroines” and as Sir Alan Sugar is one of my heroes I though I would dedicate my poem to him ….
ahem ……
Sir Alan,
Sitting at your big round desk,
I often think of you.
I love the way your finger, you point
And say
“It is with great regret,
I have to say you’re fired”

But, if one day,
I came to you,
For a job important and grand,
I hope you’d point your finger at me
And say …..
“Mum’s Monkey,
You are hired”

Monkey Looking At Canary Wharf

When I went on a boat trip up the Thames I went past Canary Wharf and wondered about Sir Alan.  I wondered especially if he was missing Margaret.

Dental Hygiene is Important

Monkey Brushing His Teeth
Before I am inundated with irate dentists, I had better stress that after eating sweets I do follow a rigorous brushing, flossing and swishing regime.

I Love Sweeties

Monkey looking at sweets
Near where I work there is a BRILLIANT sweet shop and on a Friday dinnertime I go down to buy my sweeties for the weekend.
The lady is very patient, because sometimes it takes me a very long time to make up my mind to choose what I want.
Monkey looking at sweetes
If I can’t decide what to have, I ask the lady what some of the sweets taste like, this is a cunning plan because I know she will say “Mmmm they are hard to describe”, then she will get one out of the jar and let me try it for free!

Nuns

I still have a lot of pictures to share of my trip to London, I thought I would spread them out over the next week or two, so that those of you who live in London don’t get bored!
Picture 352
I love nuns!  Woopi Goldberg makes a cracking one!

Sometimes I count nuns when I am out shopping, there aren’t too many in Wolverhampton though.  They tend to congregate in Holy Places like Rome and Lourdes.

Useful Things I Have Found In Skips

I am not advocating climbing into a skip willy nilly, however during this past week I have found a couple of useful things in skips on my way to work ……
Things you find in a skip
Now, this cricket bat may look a little worse for wear, but I am sure that when I have re-upholstered the handle Freddie Flintoff will be proud to wield it against the West Indies when I send it to him.
Picture
I found these rolls of self adhesive vinyl in the skip outside Motorworld, just yards from my home.  Now I dabble a little in the craft world and realise what a find they are, cut into A4 sized sheets and used on my Quickutz silhouette.  RESULT!
Monkey Crafting with scissors
I enjoy crafting but scissors can be a bit difficult to use with my stumpy hands.

Wolves v Portsmouth

Monkey outside Moulineux
There is only one football team, and that’s the Wolves! I never miss a match and have been a season ticket holder for years now.
Monkey with Wolves Season Ticket
I have my seat in the Steve Bull stand and always get the pre match jitters. However I try and get over this by having a hot pork bap (with stuffing and gravy) as I walk from Wolverhampton town centre to the Molineux.
Wolves in Stand
Sometimes, when we are battling, I can hardly bear to watch.
Monkey at Wolves Match
But then I get frightened that I might miss a crucial moment, so force myself to look.
Today’s result was a little erm, disappointing

Monkey’s Eye View of The London Eye

London Eye and Monkey
I’m not very good with heights, so I preferred to look at the London Eye from a safe distance. I don’t think I could cope in one of those pod thingys, I’d have to sit on the bench in the middle with my eyes shut till the ride was over.
Monkey Looking At london Eye
But I think it looks dead brilliant on New Years Eve with fireworks coming off it at all angles, it makes me feel proud to be British.

This photo makes me laugh because I look like I have a halo

A Monkey’s Eye View of London – Carnaby Street – Central Perk

I love Friends so when I heard that Central Perk had opened in Soho I just had to go.
Monkey outside Central Perk
Lucy downloaded a voucher for a free coffee but the queue was massive so we didn’t actually go in, we had too much sightseeing to do.
Monkey in Carnaby Street
Carnaby Street was dead good, I got some new jeans, two pairs of pants and some socks.  I hope you can pick me out in this picture.

A Monkey’s Eye View of London – The Tower of London

Monkey Looking at Tower London
What a wonderful view. I sat here for quite a while, alone in my thoughts,  in awe of the Tower of London and it’s history. I found it hard to believe, that it was once a place that struck terror and fear to the poor souls who were incarcerated there, Anne Boleyn, Guy Fawkes and the poor little princes to name just a few.
I made a note in my little pocket book to watch Carry on Henry when I got back home.

Sorry, I May Have To Disappoint You Today ……

Yes, I did meet Ross Noble, but alas, there is no photo of our meeting.  I was in Aunty Jan’s backpack and as there was quite a crowd outside the Stage Door, Mr Noble’s bodyguard felt that I would be far safer where I was.
However, when Aunty Jan asked for Mr Noble to sign my memento of the night, he asked who it was for and Aunty Jan pointed to me and explained my quest and adulation.
 Monkey & Ross Noble
I shall treasure that moment forever.
I could hardly contain my excitement as I waited for Mr Noble to come on stage, I even declined Kiora orange.

(he didn’t actually put the comma in, I’ve just added it to be grammatically correct)
