Castle Greysquirrel sold in a matter of days. I think being a bit of a famous blogged abode, seen by millions around the world, may have helped just a little bit!  Triumphant as we were, the pressure was now on us to find somewhere of our own to live, this weighed heavy upon  our shoulders, but as we are not ones to waste time, four Evesham viewings were quickly arranged the following day as, a starting point for our questIMG_8916Together we made a list of the priorities we wanted for our new home, like what we have seen Phil and Kirsty do to their potential buyers. To be honest, we all imagined a romantic, mid terrace, period house, but then Darrell threw a curved ball into the mix by adding a modern flat “to”, he said, “take us out of our comfort zone”,  just to say we explored all options, I was not convinced.
IMG_8914As we waited outside for the estate agent to give us le grand tour we all questioned, including Darrell, what we were doing there ……….. no way could we see ourselves living in what seemed to be a bog standard, nondescript flat, especially after the Castle?
IMG_8921How wrong we were.  Once through the portal we were instantly smitten, our list blowing in the wind, there was just something about it, we thought we wanted old, quirky, with character, what we were looking at was only six years old and very modern …….
IMG_8920…… but there was something magical about it, as soon as we walked in we all sensed it, it felt sooooooo right.  Darrell said that it was a blank canvas just waiting to be painted …….

Indeed it was, but I think it was the view from the kitchen/lounge that may have had a little to do with it ……

Nigel may have lost his beloved pool at The Castle, but he would be gaining a whole flipping river, via a set of steps to the side of the flat.
IMG_8935At the bottom, to the right, was a path leading, we suspected, into town ….. directly in front was a marina full of barges ……
IMG_8933…… and to the left, under a bridge was nothing, just the river with all its pleasures and open fields ……
IMG_8930IMG_8932
As we all looked around, each lost in our own separate worlds, wondering what each other was thinking,  two very significant, spooky Derek Acorah type things happened, firstly, on the way back up the steps to the flat Darrell spotted and picked up a holey stone, it momentarily struck him speechless and then, he said, the hairs on his arms started to stand up and tingle ……
IMG_8928And then, as if that wasn’t enough ……. Nigel and I spotted a squirrel in the trees above us, our fate/future was sealed, it had to be, things were aligning up somewhere and telling us something!
Purple Bricks I decided not to waste any time and though very, very keen, we decided to put in a cheeky offer, like we had seen Kirsty and Phil do, but it was swiftly rebuffed, so we then offered the asking price, which was accepted after a very tense ten minute wait.  OMG, we were now the owners of a bijoux riverside apartment ………
Please note that while this a most romantic tale of house hunting, all relevant searches re: flooding, earthquakes, volcanic activity, landslides and risk of barges running a ground were undertaken before any papers were signed.

Well done! A wonderful view too. You won't have loads of jobs on the house like in older houses. I hope you are close to all the important things, like Bertie!
