Eating Royally

When Nigel got back to The Towers from Belgravia he found that Stephane had snook a small Fortnum and Mason box containing two Marc de Champagne truffles in to his suitcase.
Now, while we very much appreciate and enjoy the odd box of Maltesers during our evening televisual viewing, we have a strong suspicion, F & M being her food hall of choice, our beloved Queen probably, having much more honed tastes to ours, partakes in the same or similar truffles when doing the same.
On opening the box Darrell asked for the ribbon, saying that he thought he might be able to "do" something with it, but would wear it on his wrist for now.
With just two truffles in the box, a confectionery amuse bouche as it were, we decided that we should carefully cut them up so we could all have an equal share.
As Darrell did the honours the anticipation of having something so quintessentially royal in our mouths was both tangible and palpable ..........
First the smell of the alcohol hit us, as you know we are very partial to the odd bottle of Asti Spumante, but the opportunity to sample real champagne dans an item of confectionery was a wonderful treat.
Let's just say, they did not disappoint, our taste buds were assailed by a pure boozy and silky delight, with their intense champagne centre, and creamy milk chocolate coat, finished off with a delicately romantic  dusting of icing sugar.
What can we say other than nom nom nom! Her Majesty has the most excellent taste and to be honest, with the time she's been having of late she deserves  F & M to send them to her, for free, by bucket load!  Thank you Stephane x

What a lovely gift from Stephane.

Now that is just a perfect touch. Better than a £70 afternoon tea any day...and I'd STILL have some money over for some books from the charity shop. :) JantheFan x
