Making A Splash …….

Nigel couldn’t help but notice that there were two huge boxes next to where he sits listening to his beloved readers in school full of swimming paraphernalia and accoutrements ……

……. he thought it was perhaps lost property left after trips to the leisure centre in the past ……..

…… but then someone, noticing his curiosity, asked if he’d been in the playground lately  …..

OMG ………..

……. it was only a portable, real life, proper, swimming pool ……. it was just too wonderful for words, how magical is that to a young monkey?

He was soooooooooo excited.  You can probably guess that he now wants to hire one for our communal gardens, for the summer, he wouldn’t even mind if it didn’t have the cover. He could already imagine himself doing a fosbury flop, with great aplomb, from one of the our neighbour’s balconies (with permission of course).

Sadly, I already know that the answer would be a resounding “no”. Can you imagine what a “certain someone” would say, complaining about the constant whiff of chlorine pervading the air, coupled with the unseemly screams of pleasure and constant splashing, and what if the ducks and swans from the river came to share in its pleasures?  Questions would indeed be asked in Parliament from both sides and I know Nigel would put a magnificent argument , but for this summer at least, I think he will have to make do with our customary, blow up paddling pool from Home Bargains, more’s the pity!

Hmm. My comment hasn't appeared. It must still be flying around the aether.

My original comment must have got lost in the airwaves, or undersea fibre-optic cable.

'Im-Up-Atop wouldn't be pleased at all. I can imagine old misery guts saying things like: "People enjoying themselves!!?? Outrageous behaviour!!"
