Friday Nights Just Got Even Better!

This week has been one of the most brilliant weeks ever …. so many things have happened, some we haven’t had time to mention yet, BUT …….. not only is X Factor in full swing but now our hero Paul O’Grady is back on the tele!

We planned our evening very carefully.  I nipped into Asda to get some foamy fruits for Darrell, his current confectionary of choice, and at only 28p a bag I can afford to splash out.

One of Paul’s guests was Dawn French, we like her, she has very lovely, shiny hair, but she is also a bit of a minx ….. and used her womanly wiles to entice Paul into activities of an intimate nature.

Paul seemed to be ensnared by her charms and putty in her experienced hands ….. but I could tell Darrell was a getting embarrassed, as he started digging deep into his foamy fruits under the pretence that he was searching for a banana one.

“Do you think they will get married now?” he asked as they embraced. I said that I wasn’t sure, but it seemed evident that the fragrant Dawn appeared to be ready to move on from Lenny Henry, but perhaps Paul couldn’t offer Dawn all the love she would like in the long term.

Darrell hmmmmmmmm’ed thoughtfully and offered me one of his sweets

Sir Tom Jones was also one of Paul’s guests, he has a reputation for being a ladies man, so Paul was safe with him.

What a wonderful start to our weekend.

Catching the “Other” Bus

Sometimes, when I have been shopping, I have to catch the West Midland bus home because the Banga bus only runs once an hour and sometimes I don’t have time to wait for George (but I always feel a little bit disloyal to him when I catch it).

The timetable is quite complicated,

……. and I get a bit anxious, which is silly I know …….

……… BUT the West Midland bus has one attraction that the Banga bus does not have ........ an upstairs!

…… and it’s BRILLIANT!  I can see loads of stuff I generally don't see, like what's over peoples walls and into the front rooms of houses that don't have nets up at the window but naturally, it will never be my going to town and doing the shopping transport of choice.

If I win the lottery I would buy George a double decker bus, if he wanted one, I wouldn't foist one upon him if he was content with the one he already has.

Correspondence From A Lady At The Marmite Factory.

This is Darrell with his Mona Lisa expression - since our e-mail (see below) he won’t be separated from our marmite jar!

Everyone knows that we  ADORE Marmite, especially Darrell,  it is our savoury spread of choice, so can you imagine our excitement when we opened up our e-mail yesterday (MonkeyandDarrell@hotmail.co.uk) and found a lovely message from a lady called Jenny.

She said she wants to send us a limited edition Marmite product! We can’t for the life of us think what it could be ….. but it is so exciting. I don’t know if I will be to able to contain Darrell’s effervescent mood so may have to take him for long walks until the postman arrives.

Naturally we have replied to Jenny’s e-mail.

We are in a quandary as to know how the people at Marmite know about us, Darrell thought perhaps they did a Google search for “Monkeys wat like Marmite” and somehow we popped up. If Jenny contacts us again we will ask her!

Writing Our Thank You Letter to the PE Lady’s Mum.

After we finished doing our chores yesterday, wearing our new jumpers and aprons, it was only right that Darrell and I sat down together to write a "Thank You” letter to the PE Lady’s Mum.

We decided to make our own card

I have got the best handwriting so I wrote the letter. Darrell helped me with what to say and when we had finished Darrell signed his name, in his best writing at the bottom with some kisses.

We also put in two fridge magnets with me on, Darrell is having some of his own done soon, which he is very excited about, and wants to send one to Cheryl Cole and another to Paul O’Grady for Christmas.

We have also found the PE Lady’s Mum some lovely fluffy pink wool which we think would make a nice warm scarf for her daughter, the PE Lady, especially when she’s doing things of a PE nature outside on the field, in the cold, there may even be some left over for a pair of mittens.

We hope she will like our letter, we love her very much xxx

Suitable Attire for Our Domestic Duties

We know that we are extremely fortunate Monkeys, but yesterday we received another parcel from the PE Lady’s Mum that made us gasp in surprise and then sigh at the thought and work that had been put into our gift, look what she has made us …..

…….. little aprons for doing the housework in ….. how BRILLIANT and LOVELY is that?

We just wanted to look at them all day, but we had chores to attend to …… and now we had appropriate protective clothing in which to perform them.

Darrell sorted out the drying ………

………. I stacked the dishwasher ………..

……. and then we prepared our vegetables of choice for yesterdays tea, runner beans!

Darrell said that he couldn’t imagine the beans running very far or very fast , what is he like?

Wearing our lovely new aprons made our tasks a pleasure and not a chore.

Oh Dear …… Shall I Tell Him?

Darrell can be incredibly naive at times but very sweet with it.  He likes to watch me unpack the shopping and yesterday I could see he was very taken with my purchase of some Marks and Spencer roasted and salted cashew nuts, our present nut of choice.

I could see him thinking and choosing his words carefully………… then he said, that he’d seen a magazine in the paper shop called “Nuts” and wondered if we should get it to see which nuts they recommended in a “Which Magazine” type nature……….

Knit One, Drop One

Darrell and I love would love to surf, but, as there aren’t many waves in Wolverhampton, we have to contain our  surfing to the worldwide web.  Yesterday we found this wonderful blog http://magweedsmayhem.blogspot.com/  and this BRILLIANT hanging basket -  a veritable 5 a day in knitted form.

When we saw it we just sat in silence, the only expression we can use to sum up how we felt is awe and wonder. It is, the most wonderful knitted object we have ever seen.

There is even a knitting pattern on the blog to follow …… so we have found some wool, some needles and have printed off the instructions so we can start to make our own hanging basket ………….. all we need now is to learn to knit.

Darrell is attempting the leaves and I am trying to do the strawberries, but we may be trying to knit before we can purl as they say in the knitting world.

It’s also a bit spooky, knitting has featured a lot in our lives this week. It could be an omen to put our X Factor dreams on hold and take up knitting instead.

Hmmmmm - Its Beyond Us

Me and Darrell find some advetisements a bit hard to follow and understand.

This is for Cadbury's but we can't make head nor tail of it.  Our favourite Cadbury advert of choice is the drumming gorilla, now that's BRILLIANT!

Monkeys What Lunch

Darrell and I very much enjoy going out to lunch whenever we can, our hostelry of choice is the pub across the road, especially when they have a two for one offer on.

However we find their seats are rather low …..

and their menus rather large …….

I thought Darrell had gone to “seek toiletry comfort” and so naturally stopped our conversation, but he was really hidden behind his menu trying to decide between an All Day Breakfast or Peri Peri Chicken, I only realised he was there when he popped up to say “Have you decided yet?”

When we left we were given a customer feedback form to fill in, we made several suggestions.

Just in case you wondered, Darrell had the All Day Breakfast and I enjoyed beef lasagne, with salad and chips.

We’ve Got New Jumpers, How Brilliant Is That?

We LOVE the PE Lady’s Mum! Look what she has knit for us, bright orange Wolves jumpers!!!!! We only gave her a couple of our vital statistics, but they are perfect, she is a VERY clever.  How “brilliant” are we going to look at the Molineux now!

There will be no need for Aunty Jan to fret anymore about not being able to see us at a game,  even Mick McCarthy will be able to point us out to the players, because he’s already tried it in our garden!

The PE Lady’s mum has also knit us a red and black stripy jumper, we both like it and have agreed to share it.

We had a lot of fun posing for these pictures, Darrell fancies himself as a latter day male knitting pattern model.

We have admired our jumpers from every angle and …..

….. if ever this gets onto the Wolves Website we will probably be inundated by Wolves fans wanting to know how to get theirs, we could brand them as Wolves Chic!

Cauliflowers

I can’t remember if I told you that I was growing cauliflowers as well as potatoes in my little vegetable patch. 

I am very proud. They taste lovely, especially with cheese sauce a la cauliflower cheese!  I did cook a rather large caterpillar in with the first one I picked – luckily I found it in time, as Darrell could have easily mistaken it for a strip of bacon in his sauce!

This one is for Granny, she likes a bit of cauliflower as part of her 5 A Day too!
 

It’s a bit of a thrill to give people things that you have grown yourself, I know how Alan Titchmarsh must feel now!
