Living in Lockdown - Day 25 - Darkness Descends The Towers

I do believe Darrell may have been harbouring latent, physic tendencies of a late great Derek Acorah type nature.
You may recall his stockpiling (via Amazon) of tealights on Day 7 of meltdown, not only as we had experienced a brief, day time power cut a couple of days earlier, but he also thought that they would  bring a little romantic ambiance to our meltdown evenings ......
....... well, last night, during the last fifteen minutes of The Quiz, based on the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire cheating scandal, which we had all been greatly enjoying. we were suddenly plunged into darkness. At first we were a little startled, but then Darrell carefully made his way to the kitchen drawer, found a lighter and proceeded to light all the tealights he has placed around the room.
With light prevailing, he then went out into the entrance hall to check if it was just us or the whole block that was out, to be greeted by our lovely neighbour's husband Laci going into the meter cupboard, with Kata torch in hand, to check if anything had blown, it hadn't, so they  went outside to be greeted again by total darkness.  The whole estate and across the marina was all out too.
Kata then checked her phone and found that the power cut covered quite a large area and was likely to be out for at least an hour and a half ...... we accepted our fate, but did tell Kata that we were a bit disappointed at missing the end of The Quiz and she said that she was also disgruntled as she had been watching a fascinating programme on how they make La Creuset cookware, where they were just about to enamel the pans their iconic orange! We all commiserated with each other and then said good night , but we stood a little longer, in awe, to marvel at the beauty of the clear night sky and the thousands of stars above us.  It was emotional .......
Then there was nothing left to do but go to bed, minus our usual hot chocolate or Horlicks, but not before quietly reflecting on how fragile and impotent we all felt when just one thing, that we take totally for granted is pulled from under us (even though we knew it was only temporarily) ......... made all the more poignant, perhaps, under these meltdown times.
