Living La Vida Lockdown – Day 42 – Wonderful News To Impart

As you can imagine our hearts were absolutely broken when we learnt that The Eurovision Song Contest, our televisual highlight of the year had to be cancelled because of this flipping virus  …….

…… so imagine the unbridled joy that thronged throughout The Towers when we learnt that there will still be an official Eurovision event  – Europe Shine A Light broadcast across Europe on May 16th.  How BRILLIANT is that?  Let’s just say it got a bit emotional when we heard the news.
Europe Shine A Light
To quote from the official bumf “The special will honour all 41 2020 entries in a ‘non competitive format’, before a virtual singalong from fans of Ireland’s winning song from 1980, What’s Another Year by Johnny Logan” – Darrell has already printed off the lyrics so we wont be found wanting when our time comes.

In all, there will be more than four hours of Eurovision on the night, it’s almost to wonderful to contemplate.

Sadly, because of meltdown, we won’t be sharing the evening in person with Hugh, Darrell’s very best friend and mentor at La Chicken Coup, his Worcester bolt hole as we have for the past few years, but I am sure that the texts will be pinging between us throughout the evening. Happy, happy, happy Eurovision days!

Great! More Boom bang-a-bang. Inky Pinky Parlez Vous.

Shame you couldn't meet up with Hugh. Darrell will be so disappointed.
